Haaland has been by far and away in a different league when it comes to captaincy this season - so it’s fair to see why FPL managers want to ensure that they use the chip in a week...
... where Haaland can be triple captained.
Which brings me to the next point. If you're looking to triple captain Haaland this season, then the best opportunities are likely to come in double Gameweek 20 or Double Gameweek 23.
There will be better fixtures later but those will come in weeks where (a) usage of other chips might be more optimal and (b) Champions League rotation could be a factor. I expect Haaland to start both games in Gameweek 20 and 23, Gameweek 23 looks slightly better on paper but...
... there is one lesser day of turnaround in Gameweek 23. It is between one of these two weeks for me.
The Spurs match in particular this week can work in Haaland's favour as they tend to concede an abnormal number of chances centrally where Haaland is likely to operate:

Q) Is it okay to take hits this week? Should a Wildcard be considered?
This is one of the most critical weeks when it comes to transfers this season.
I don’t mind taking hits this week – they are fine as long as you’re setting yourself up for the weeks to come. There’s a...
... fine line between being brave and reckless, so it’s important to view each hit in isolation and judge each one of them on merit.
I expect a Wildcard to be much more powerful later on in the season since most engaged managers will be taking hits this week anyway.
Q) Keep or sell Foden/Cancelo? Who to buy instead?
Cancelo has been in really poor form for City in recent weeks. Doubts over his starting position makes it really difficult to justify his selection at a premium price. I think the transfer to Shaw is straight-forward...
... For those who own Shaw, I’d look at Stones as he is the most nailed City defender but there are doubts over his fitness.
He's started the previous six in the league and has been City's best defender in recent times. I don't think Pep will rotate him as City cannot...
... afford to drop points. I do think there is a good chance that this transfer could pay off over the long term if Stones is fit as it could pay off this week, or in Double Gameweek 23, or in any of the subsequent single Gameweeks when Cancelo is...
... likely to get me a one pointer. The transfer gives you a more nailed City defensive asset, at the same time ensuring that it releases a large chunk of cash. Ake and Akanji are reasonable shouts as well, although they aren’t as secure as Stones.
I’d sell Foden for Mahrez. I expect Guardiola to play Grealish and Mahrez in both the games in double GW20 for more control. Pep’s words give me further re-assurance that Mahrez is in simply undroppable form right now:
"When they play this way I say yeah, you deserve to play. But before he cannot play as he is not playing in the level he is playing now. I had to let them see in their own mirror who they are."
He actually has a better xGi than KDB since the restart.
Q) Salah to De Bruyne?
In my opinion, De Bruyne has to be a priority transfer if you don’t own him this Gameweek. Those FPL managers who picked Salah over De Bruyne post restart are already 10 points up in the deal. I believe there is no harm even if I have to take a hit...
... to pick the player with the doubles coming up. The smart play is to buy De Bruyne and have him in place for the doubles to come without having to second guess expected minutes for the City midfielders.
I also believe that De Bruyne is due a bit of good luck going his way:
De Bruyne since the restart:
Chances created: 12
Big chances created: 4
xGi: 1.93
Attacking returns: 0
Q) Darwin – keep or sell?
I’m happy to die on the Darwin hill again. Brighton are 14th for big chances conceded since De Zerbi took over. I’m expecting more chances for Darwin in Gameweek 20, especially with Gakpo around who was first for key passes in the Eredivisie...
... and will help improve creativity in the Liverpool attack.
Darwin is top for shots and shots in the box per 90 in the league this season but has remarkably missed all seven of big chances post restart. No player has underperformed more...
... in terms of xGi – surely, surely this is the week where he puts it right.
Q) Is Martial a solid buy this week?
Yes, I look at Martial as a good long-term transfer. The logic here is based on Man United having a double in GW20 and then potentially again in GW22. Should that be the case, then Man United's fixture run from Gameweek 22 will read:
CRY+LEE lee LEI BRE
This makes me want the third Man United player in place this week so that I can set myself up for the fixtures to come. The next two Gameweeks for Man United aren't great nor is the fact that Martial tends to get subbed around the hour mark but I do think...
... that he's firmly first choice, despite the arrival of Wout Weghorst. In a very recent interview, Ten Hag emphasized his significance to Man United's play-style:
"His profile, the quality is so important to our game. His movements, ball security, the pressing. He brings so much to the team. We need that profile and Marcus Rashford can benefit from that."
Q) Is Kane worth it?
I don’t think Kane is a priority buy this week. Since restart, Spurs have recorded just three big chances and seem to be struggling for creativity. Liverpool, on the other hand, have recorded 13!
Spurs are scheduled to play Arsenal and then Man City twice in the span of three Gameweeks. Hence, I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy Kane this week but he’s a solid buy if you can get to him fairly comfortably.
What makes the case for Kane stronger is that at no point this season has a threemium squad been more viable than now. With Cancelo out of favour & Trent/Robertson out of form, it's easier to put funds in attack and yet get a strong team with Haaland, Kane & KDB (& even Nunez!).
