#Awdal_ruins #اطلال_اودل An ancient archology sites around Borama District, Awdal from Medieval ages show that this area was inhabited for thousands of years even before Islam and Before Common Era, most of the sites are just far from Borama approx 30-60 km in every direction.

exactly in the Borama city there is several ancient sites like the two famous mountains Sharlaganaadi and Saw, as well as Qorgaab a valley in east of the city which was very important urban settlement in the 5th century, in 1444 Qorgaab was attacked by Ethiopian Negus Zara Yacob

Abbase /the Abbaso Fiumara or Abbase sare is an ancient site near Borama which has megalithic and decorated stelae cemeteries, Rock arts with Himyarite and Sabaean inscription and both pre Islamic and Islamic archologies which is dated in age of 6000 years .

Richard Francis Burton (1856) describes the Abasa Valley in the Gadabuursi country as amongst the most beautiful spots he has seen, He mentioned that there is a Galla queen known as Kola in Abbasa in the period when Gadabuursi forefathers still inhabited Bulhar on the coast.

even if is not to close to Borama city the ancient Bulhar city in Sahil region was inhabited by Gadabuursi before they moved west towards Zeila and Borama area as orientalist and old oral history like Ali Buul referred , the city has ruins from both BCE and CE

Amud is one of ancient cities around Borama city now and it is back to 2th-5th CE the town features 250 to 300 houses and an ancient temple. The temple was constructed from carefully dressed stone, and was later transformed into a mosque, Amud was important city during Adal era.

Isku-Darka near Boon city which is 90 km away from Borama city are one of most ancient sites in Awdal region, old religions as well as Christian and Muslim Burials and Ruined pre-Islamic and Islamic found in this site.

Awbube one of the biggest towns of the Adal Empire and Shihab al-Din Ahmad mentions the Patron Saint Awbube by name in his famous book Futuh al Habasha, Sir Burton and Captain H.G.C Swayne R.E mentioned that Gadabuursi rebuild the town again, Awbube was Gurgura Somali by itself.

Zeila has the most well known ancient Islamic ruins in the area that is dated in Ifat and Adal era 2th- 5th CE , a lot of mosques, toms and other archologies can be seen until today.
