I had a call with a prospective searcher yesterday that told me verbatim his goal was to close on an acquisition by 12/31/2023.

My response: You do not want to be in a bank's closing queue during the month of December. It is absolute chaos. 1/x
Here is a list of places that I would rather be than a bank's closing queue in the month of December:

➡️ Stuck in rush hour traffic

➡️ Middle seat on an airplane

➡️ Stuck in a crowded elevator

➡️ Stuck next to someone that smells bad. 2/x
➡️ In pre-underwriting with a lender that doesn't do Full Standby loans

➡️ At @Walgreens to pick up aloe to heal a sunburn

➡️ In Wisconsin on a -10 F day without a coat

➡️ Stuck somewhere with a bicycle needing to go 20 miles in an hour.

~8 months ago, I quit a steady day job while on vacation in Greece.

It was a spontaneous decision that came after several DM conversations with folks in the SMB Twitter ecosystem. 1/x
I gave up a steady job at a top regional SBA bank, but one that had an overly conservative towards social media can and can't dos. 2/x
As of 12/31/22, on an annualized basis, taking into consideration only 6 1/2 months of operations, I made net what I would have made in a year there. 3/x

1 - Identify Your Passion

➡️ Too many people that I talk to are looking to get into business ownership to get rich.

➡️ The stakes are too high to do something that you don't enjoy

➡️ Determine what makes you happy and fine a business / industry/industries that align with you
2 - Part Time or Full Time Searching

➡️ If you have a significant war chest of capital, full time searching might be right for you.

➡️ It provides you with the ability to focus solely on deal sourcing and your search process, avoiding having to balance time with a job
