In light of recent developments, I want to revisit some previous tweets, as I have been waging an online war against sex tourism (now with the convenient #passportbros hashtag) for years.
That Black men have created online groups in the thousands disgusts me so thoroughly, because this has been a favorite pastime of white tourists in the Global South since air travel was invented. Always Olympic level mental gymnastics to justify violence.
I volunteered at a recovery home in Thailand for women & children who survived trafficking (all images posted with permission), and every single woman had a story about a foreign man they were manipulated by. Every. Single. One. This is not a coincidence.
Men post their lavish "love lives" with no shame, and then are met with more high fives and "lemme get my passport application going" replies than anything.
Hoodbooger accounts like this repost their exploits, and perpetuate the abuse. I'm willing to bet that most of the men who liked this image now have their own TT or YT channels teaching other men how to exploit (underage) women in the Global South.
The perpetrators frame it as meeting women who are docile, subservient, and feminine, which are toxically masculine euphemisms for economically disadvantaged and manipulated.
Pick up artist, alpha male, meat eater, etc., they are all flunkies from the school of toxic masculinity, and all have sexploitation in common. I don't care how you frame it. If you say you love a country and only name drinks and women as why, you are an exploitative colonizer.
David Bond (see previous tweet in thread) can't go back to Indonesia because of his scummy ways. But he's still making PUA content for YouTube. coconuts.co/jakarta/news/i…
What the passport bros don't tell you is that the people in the countries they exploit are exploiting them right back. In Colombia, men are getting set up by dates from TheApps™️ and getting roofied, robbed, and killed. Google Timothy Revell Reed and get back to me.
Contrary to popular belief, the locals understand English, have access to the internet, and they know exactly what you're saying about them on accounts like @passportbros. They are tired of sexpats, and I'm here for all of it.
There's so much ki-ki-ing and congratulating going down on the TL when the perps post their videos and how-to sexploitation travel blogs, people miss/ignore the obvious sex pest clues:
I hope the #passportbros shaming continues. Much love to Stephanie Ribeiro and all the women across the countries that sexpats love to exploit, for calling out misogynistic colonial sex tourism trade. I hope Auston, Andrew Tate et al know they are not welcome anywhere. Ever.
There's always one anon shithead who wants so desperately to out themselves, but can't, for their mother might find out they're an incel. So instead, they find ways to blame Black women for their shortcomings.
Listening to Vanessa Williams' interview about visiting Ghana is making me ill. Not a word said about the current economic state, the crime, or the horrendous infrastructure, just a gentrified commercial from the perspective of a blue passport holder with money in a poor country.
You're more likely to die waiting than be cured in any GH hospital, and malaria still runs rampant. Meanwhile, the country is spending $4Billion on a Cathedral to attract more white evangelicals so blue passport Blacks can feel safer. It would be funny if it weren't so violent.
I am admittedly bitter because I am a born & raised citizen who has to scratch, bite, and beg to get basic services while the gov't and tourism board bend over backwards for foreigners w/blue books. It took me more than 6 hours to schedule my Ghana passport renewal appt today.
Time for my daily complaint about Ghana! Today, it took me more than TWO hours to navigate the garbage National Identity Authorization form to apply for the Ghana card. The UI and UX are awful, and the site is unnavigable and rife with typos.
The best part? There is no password recovery/reset option so even though we've paid online, we can't print some of the information needed because my dad is locked out of his account so we just have to go to the office guerilla style on Wednesday and hope for the best. 🙃
What makes all of this absurd is that without a PHYSICAL copy of your birth certificate, passport, etc., there is absolutely no way for any Ghanaian official to verify the information you provide. They have no insight nor network connection to any entity outside of Ghana.
Hearing the word "marijuana" makes my ass itch. I know it has been widely accepted as the norm, but I cannot forget nor forgive its racist, propagandist origins.
Cannabis, y'all. Please try to refer to it as cannabis in your cotidian language.
Don’t be a Rhett, kids. If you feel the urge to whitesplain AND you provide evidence from another attempt at reducing racism, you are definitely wrong in advance.
And as if white Jesus worship and a “national cathedral” weren’t bad enough, they have white USians on the consultant payroll. Reminder, we are eyeballs deep in a recession and have defaulted on our foreign loan payments.
The Breakfast Club, The Shade Room, Say Cheese, Lipstick Alley, and Worldstar all have one thing in common: virulent anti-Blackness. That is why they are so popular.
They are massive hubs of mis/disinformation where people from all walks of life can bash Black people, together.
"Conservative figures have continually taken advantage of these platforms’ lax standards for content by ushering in ideas that harm Black people. And the platforms themselves, having faced years of criticism with minimal effect, are equally complicit."
I have written multiple threads following the RW money that fuels Breakfast Club.
