Wwx is accustomed to seeing JC in the light of 'young duckling that follows shixiong's lead' and even when he came back after 13 years he still has the perception of JC as he was back then plus the fact that JC reverts to his 😠🥺😤 persona around wwx and instinctively trusts

that wwx has things handled like in the GT with JGY and those strings does nothing to dissuade this notion.. wwx therefore just has the view of him as like a younger brother type thing and he dismisses jc as an 'equal' cuz of this..

but jc is a grown man now and a sect leader

who has been handling his shit for over a decade, he just turns into 😠🥺 around wwx bcuz they are so unresolved too that they're stuck in the past dynamic even with all that happened

all this to say au where wwx ends up seeing jc in his element and can't believe it bcuz this is

JC is super competent and a bit scary and also a lot hot but wwx has never seen this side of him bcuz jc loses all of that poise in front of wwx and wwx's impression of jc as a SL is what he knew from before when quite frankly jc was new and inexperienced

But JC is not new & inexperienced anymore & in fact is one of the most senior cultivators left after the war and then the siege etc.

His command of a room (esp when he doesn't know wwx is in it) is impressive & wwx finds his mouth going dry.. he can't believe this is his shidi

also jc was forced to grow up, he was forced to take on this role very early on, all the ppl he grew up with are dead and jiang cheng gets left behind in place of Sect Leader Jiang.. wwx is the only person that he can be just JC in front of so that's what wwx gets to see mostly

bcuz even with all that happened JC is still only able to be just JC in front of wwx who he grew up with

aka wwx never saw the other side of him...

wwx only gets to see it now bcuz JC doesn't know he's there and is in full SLJ mode and wwx is surprised by how attractive it is
