Vadugapatti a village in TamilNadu 's Theni district saw a violent attrocity on #Dalits on the 16th during the Jallikatu celebrations. Post celebrations by the Thevar caste ,Dalit youth who were trying to play with their cattles (as they are banned from the sport) drove them
And accidentally reached the public road where they were stopped by Thevar caste men with caste slur saying "Paraiyar dogs like you cannot come into public roads " .Our youth retorted back but was attacked by the caste men.There was a tussle as Dalits tried go defend themselves.
After that ,The Thevar caste men raided the Dalit colony and attacked men ,women and children.A pregnant woman was also attacked .The Dalit victims went to the police but police did not file a compliant nor take any action.
After this the caste goons stopped Dalits from riding bikes through the same road .Around 300 Dalit men and women staged a Darna on the road and they were attacked by the caste goons with knife and machets .They poured kerosene on two children and threatened to kill them .
All this happened in front of the police .After this the Dalits started retaliating with stone pelting in their defence but the police arrested both Dalits and the Thevar caste goons. 26 arrested .12 Dalits in that and 10 women .
The Thevar caste men have clearly notified in their complaint that it all happened after they stopped Dalits from using the public road .Still SC/ST poa has not been invoked and also the victims are imprisoned. Isn't it wrong ?
The Dalits are victims and how can Tamilnadu police punish the victims ? The cases should be quashed and complaint should be withdrawn. They should be released and we expect strict action from the district administration and @CMOTamilnadu .
