When @DiyaMaG18 and @arch_types called me for a story on #Dalit cuisine I was sweetly surprised .They relentlessly chased me for two months for heirloom recipes.Beef ,pork ,boti,karikal and more.List of delicacies were shared along with a chapter of my upcoming book . We had wonderful discussions on food especially DBA style recipes from Tamilnadu which were ethnic,rich in nutrients and also influenced by colonialism. "We Madras people love beef stomach called kanippu " I said and they loved the recipe .There was nothing they didn't want .

Do you know ,in Tamilnadu there are streets in many villages across the state still called as "Keezha theru" (lower street) and "Mela theru" (upper street) .'Keezha theru' denotes streets where Dalits live and 'Mela theru' denotes non-Dalit living areas.Even in this 21st century. localitydetails.com/sivan-keela-th…

One small example.

Vadugapatti a village in TamilNadu 's Theni district saw a violent attrocity on #Dalits on the 16th during the Jallikatu celebrations. Post celebrations by the Thevar caste ,Dalit youth who were trying to play with their cattles (as they are banned from the sport) drove them And accidentally reached the public road where they were stopped by Thevar caste men with caste slur saying "Paraiyar dogs like you cannot come into public roads " .Our youth retorted back but was attacked by the caste men.There was a tussle as Dalits tried go defend themselves.

A Savarna director has made a movie on manual scavenger death.Some of us have not watched it as it might be another traumatising experience as #Dalits to watch it .We are aware of the deaths,the legal process and the disappointments .We are not ignorant of it. "Who" needs to watch the movie is the Savarnas,the bureaucrats and the state .That would be the goal of the movie .To rattle the corrupt and casteist system.But unfortunately the communists (The director is their fellow comrade ) have started to attack Dalits

The first movie in South India which potrayed Muslims as terrorists was "Roja" . Maniratnam started the trend. Roja was an agenda movie produced by Balachander a soft Sanghi. ARR worked in that and every similar movie made by Mani . Roja ,Bomba ,Dil se etc Has anyone who's questioning Ilayaraja on his work in ThevarMagan posed the same disdain and questions to ARR? On why did he work in Islamophobic movies? Which created a big impact to muslim lives in TN in the 90s? We left him because he is feudal caste muslim? How Convinient No?
