Due to the nature of my work, I am engaged in battery business quite a bit and as a @Tesla enthusiast I think a lot about batteries.
I think that the three S.Korean #battery makers must be in potential risk right now. here it is.

but the height of the battery cell is targeting two heights in addition to 4680. (46120??) First of all, the factory will be built for the purpose of supplying batteries to legacy autos such as BMW, but it seems to be preparing for producing 4680 once there is a strategic need

I think it was a good decision considering many possibilities. But not promising competitiveness and capacity comparing other 2 makers.

…which are expensive to manufacture. SK's battery has been adopted a lot due to the LG-GM recall years ago, but as the market trend is gradually moving toward Tesla's cylindrical type, SK will eventually have to switch to cylindrical shape to be competitive against 4680.

LG Energy Solution is the most Tesla-friendly one. O-chang 2nd Factory in S. Korea is a factory dedicated to the 4680 form factor, but time is passing in a state where the yield of S.Korean battery equipment installed here is not high enough.

LG's biggest concern is probably when Tesla succeeded in mass-producing the 4680 through a dry electrode process earlier than they thought it would.

As a buyer and competitor, Tesla will know the price of LG's 4680 battery over time.

This means that the moment that Tesla will ask LG's 4680 unit price to match that of Tesla's is just around the corner. LG has to make money first by succeeding in mass production of the 4680 earlier than Tesla to avoid this… which doesn't seem to be easy though.

S. Korean battery makers' Li-ion Battery is quite competitive at this moment, so auto makers around the world are sending love calls to those makers, and a number of joint venture plants are underway. But what will happen if Tesla succeeds in all the process innovations…

업무특성상 배터리업체와 유관하기도 하고, 테슬람이기도 하다보니 배터리 관련하여 이래저래 많은 생각을 하게 된다.
한국의 배터리 업체 3사 사장들은 지금 굉장한 고민에 빠져 있을것이다.

우선 삼성은 46파이 폼팩터를 수용하되,
배터리셀의 높이는 4680에 추가로 두가지 정도 높이를 타겟으로 삼고 있다. (46120??)우선은 BMW등의 레거시 오토에 배터리를 공급하는걸 목적으로 공장을 만들겠지만, 여차하면 4680 도 생산할 수 있는 기반을 준비하는 것으로 보인다. 많은 가능성을 염두에 둔 좋은 결정이라고 생각한다.
SK경우는 골치가 조금 아파 보인다. 제조원가가 비싼 파우치와 각형 배터리를 계속 고집하기 때문이다. LG 리콜로 SK의 배터리가 많이 채택이 되었지만, 앞으로 시장의 대세가 점점 테슬라의 원통형으로 움직이고 있다보니 언젠간 SK도 원통형으로 전환하여 4680의 단가에 맞춰야 할 숙명이 아닐까.

오랫동안 컴퓨터와 교류하면서 부지불식간에 뇌의 일부분이 컴퓨터의 동작방식에 익숙해지게 되었고 그 동작방식이 전화기에서 그대로 구현되는 아이폰을 보면서 놀라는 건 당연한 일이었을 것이다.
