Way too many idle employees at #entebbeairport with way too much time on their hands, always a sure recipe for failure of services and traveler flow. From getting out of the vehicle to boarding the aircraft, you meet employees idling around. A leaner airport would be better.
Security check at the entrance that doesn’t check a thing. Parking people that accost you with notebooks to fill in and sign. Trolley people asking to push your luggage. Passport and ticket flipper at the entrance to the tent. Covid flippers on their phones with acrylic nails.
Honestly how can you be efficient if you need to type accurately on a mobile phone and you have acrylic nails of almost two inches? Does anyone check these ladies? Then, someone clogging the tiny entrance door where you pass with luggage while the guy pushes the train of trolleys
Scanning the luggage, there’s always someone trying to pick your luggage and put on the scanner for you - which is a security risk as you must handle your own luggage by law and common sense - then the people watching you pass the scanner, if they are two it’s fast but any more -
More than two manning each scan point, you can be sure of a long queue because they are busy conversing and nothing moves. Then comes another passport and ticket flipper checking your visas, then finally you can get to the check-in counter. Again, extra persons add inefficiency
Immigration usually has two officers irrespective of the number of flights but they are efficient, technology permitting. At the gate, if there are two passport and ticket flippers, there is useless gossip and a queue. Then they flip your passport again at exit, and finally
Someone has to lead the crowd to the aircraft, then another flips your boarding pass at the steps and finally the crew needs your boarding pass to show you to your seat. From the security gate to your seat you have thirteen interactions, half of them unnecessary.

@sejudav Not exactly attacked. They first did some hard work in Croatia to make sure they have internal support to break up Yugoslavia. Then they fuelled the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia and Bosnia, then imposed sanctions on Serbia, then finally bombed Serbia for 78 days...
@sejudav Yet there was no war or fighting in the territory of Serbia during all that time. Now NATO has bases in Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and in Kosovo and the only NATO-free land there is Serbia, and this is a big thorn in NATO’s eye. But Serbia made a choice against..
@sejudav Imposing sanctions on Russia because we were under economic blockade and sanctions for enough years to know the impact. Serbs have decided not to be slaves to NATO, it is against the principles of Non Aligned Movement which we helped form as Yugoslavia, and against principles...

Once upon the time there was a councilor Rwego at Kampala City Council. An amazing gentleman and I hope dear Lord still keeps him in good health and with all the faculties of his brilliant mind. A short thread.
We used to meet often on a topic of installing street lights made of fiberglass, a crazy idea of mine later poorly executed by a few outdoor advertising companies whose names aren’t adding value to the story, or otherwise.
We once happened to talk about the rain. Then moved onto drainage. This was circa 2000, he said: “It’s never going to get better, no matter what we do as the City Council. No matter how much work we put in, whatever size of drainage, we can’t fix it.”

Covid testing on arrival #Uganda flops and successes. A thread. Advance communication - a flop. As usual, passengers go through confusion with each new rule at Entebbe. However, people on the ground are doing their best to help.
Immigration. Efficient and focused process. A success. Luggage belt efficiency: a success. Luggage scanning, a success. Fast and efficient. Exiting the airport building to walk in a long loop uphill to a holding area - total flop. It’s coming to midnight and everyone has luggage.
Bank payment: partly a flop. Test cost of as communicated in USD, $30 per nose. PostBank however receives cash UGX so if you have cash $ you have to exchange for UGX. Long queue to pay though staff are quite efficient.

People stopping to pick passengers, goats, bags of charcoal. This has to stop.
For the entire length of the Expressway, there is no single space where one can stop safely to make a call, send a message or go to the toilet. Yes, toilets along the highways are essential. We don’t have them in our cars.
Fuel stations are everywhere but hit the Expressway and onwards to Namboole, good luck to you. What kind of planning is this? Please, do better.

.@UNRA_UG I have a bone to pick with you. This is a thread on #EbbExpressway.
@UNRA_UG First, that ka-fence from Entebbe to Abaita is simply a waste of resources. I appreciate you wanted a green belt design but, half the fence is already missing and the other half is being picked by mad, drunk and reckless drivers on a daily. That fence does not work.
@UNRA_UG Zebra crossings. What in the world were the designers thinking? All the pedestrian spaces HAVE to be fenced off, so people are safe and can not step onto the highway. Pedestrian bridges have to be constructed over the highway or else people are exposed to huge risks.

This is a translated thread by .@elisbektas Here goes:

Nursing and even encouraging the societal neglect in every way, together with nursing of the victim cult, degradation of the societal and individual awareness and especially awareness of the consequences of our own actions,
@elisbektas placing of the national politics in the position of absolute fatherly authority that is the only one who knows what is good for next generations and necessarily calls for rebellion, forcing of the fossilised morals that never existed in the form
@elisbektas that is being offered but is just an added ideological construct and an entropic idealisation whose aim is not life but dominance, worrisome corruption in the police and the judiciary apparatuses, aggressive vulgar materialism combined with consumerism that hypnotises the masses
