DHARMIC CRITICAL MASS
.......
One of things that everyone needs to do is to sit down with the oldest member in the family and have a conversation. We must have the names of 4 generations at a minimum, if that is not possible, 3 on both maternal and paternal side

++
- both the pitru-varga / matru varga on the paternal side and similarly on the maternal side (Father / Grandfather / Great Grandfather / Great-great grandfather / Mother / Grand mother / Great-grandmother / Great-great-grandmother)

++
– a total of 16 names and four generations on each side now you have reached back about 350–400 years &that is good enough – start with including all of them in the pitru tarpanam (if you have got the adhikara now, those with fathers should not be starting the tharpanam).

++
During the conversation, find out who the kula devata is, what are specific anushtanas and sampradayas unique to the family that need to be followed. Write it down and put it into practice.

++
Was chatting with Shree Kumar earlier today and this aspect came up there – the three varnas must start the habit of upanayana for the male child and sandhyavandanam must become a regular practice –

++
– nothing will unite the Hindus more than this. The practice of daily Sandhya and offering of arghyam by a large section of the dharmic people and even making it a group practice at temples, near rivers, lakes etc.

++
will send out the most powerful message across the country – Dharma gurus must work on this and step away from politics. The cultural space must be reclaimed by the Dharma Gurus instead of ceding it to politicians.

++
Public display of Dharma is critical to reclaiming our temples as well – the release of shakti will start a groundswell.

++
The third important aspect is to start wearing your dharma on your face. People should stop being shy of sporting a tilak, vibhuti, or Chandan and so on – on your face is in your face and again crucial to regaining the space that we have vacated.

++
Critical mass is built like this – you don’t need huge numbers; you need critical mass that can act as the leverage that will set the ball rolling - let's build DHARMIC CRITICAL MASS

I am co-authoring a paper for an international conference titled "Governance of Hindu temples – Issues & Frameworks; Ownership versus Trusteeship – A dharmic conundrum."

++
The case being made through this paper is the need and rationale to free temples for government control - EXCERPTS from a section of the preliminary abstract that was approved:

++
There is no denying that a strong linkage has always existed between the state and temples from the time temples were first setup by Kings in India. Religious grants, endowments, and royal patronage were very common and formed the primary source of temple revenue,

Everybody uses mobiles. They use them all the time, just constantly. It's a phenomenon of the modern age. Everybody's talk, talk, talking all the time, little black telephones pressed to their faces. Where does all the conversation come from?

++
What happened to all that conversation before mobiles were invented? Was it all bottled up? Burning ulcers in people's guts? Or did it just develop spontaneously because technology made it possible?

++
It's a subject you are interested in. Human impulses. Your guess is a small percentage of calls represents useful exchange of information. But the vast majority must fall into one of two categories,

Interesting. @dhume is right in saying that India is not a liberal democracy. But, was it ever? Furthermore, he makes the same errors that others make - this government is far from being Hindu, in fact it's appeasement of minorities thru social entitlements is far higher

++
The impunity with which the temples in Kashi were broken down to build that corridor or the disdain for Dharma gurus speaks of anti-hindu tendencies but what explains the constant harping on Hindu nationalism of the BJP? It's a trope that has been successfully sold & bought

++
Statehood in Kashmir may have been revoked but not one pandit has been resettled. The revoking of article 370 has meant nothing & CAA has been put into deep freeze.

Modi keeps making appeals to minorities & tells his party cadres to not make any comments against minorities

APOTHEOSIS AND PERSONALITY CULTS
..........................................
The Greeks had a word for it “apotheosis” – the deification, glorification and raising of an individual to the level of a god or godlike stature.

++
Many of the Greek heroes and several of their kings were accorded this status.

++
When Philip-II the Macedonian King (Alexander’s father) married for the sixth time, an enthroned image/idol of Philip was carried in procession along with other Hellenistic gods signifying that he was a “god among men”

SRI AUROBINDO’S UTTARPARA SPEECH AND THE DREAM OF A HINDU RASHTRA
.............
Soon after Sri Aurobindo was released from his one-year incarceration he gave what was at that time and still remains an epochal speech – famous as the Utarrpara speech.

++
In that speech, Sri Aurobindo laid out his plan both the spiritual and the political. The impact of the words he uttered on that day had an extraordinary effect on all those who heard him.

++
People threw flowers and jasmine garlands and a huge heap of these flowers fell all around the table and the dais. Sri Aurobindo as was his habit walked away leaving the pile of garlands as is.

F#SK YOU MONEY
............
This is a phrase I first heard Scott Adams use and then I saw that this was a fairly common phrase that some economists used as well to refer to a particular threshold of money after which it ceases to matter so much.

++
When you don’t have to report to a boss, when you don’t have to depend on someone for your daily needs, when you have income streams that are independent of someone or something, then you can say this.

++
Scott Adams’ definition of a boss is anyone or any group who can control you and your source(s) of income. If you are a writer, it could be a publisher or your readers.
