The #Bandera, #UPA question, an academic perspective
Stefan Brandera wasn’t even in Ukraine when the Germans entered Lviv & a week later, Germany sent him to a concentration camp. He was more of a USA/CIA collaborator then a alleged Nazi collaborator-the Russian narrative. 1/
Read the real history, not the Soviet revisionist history
🇺🇦 auxiliary police, often misbranded as Nazis, were put under SS German control the day Germany entered 🇺🇦. Orders given for Jews to be rounded up in the streets of Lviv, & taken to prison on Lonsky, to dispose of Ukrainian UPA corpses, killed previously by retreating Soviets.
3/
What Jewish diaspora & Russian trolls ignore is that a week after the pogrom, 1,000s of Jewish workers were killed by the Germans in Lonsky prison, not by Ukrainians.
4/
Yes, there was mocking & belittling of Jews in the streets, b/c Lviv townspeople mistakenly thought Jews were being arrested for the deaths of UPA partisans and taken to Lonsky prison, according a German scholar. ( not justification, but an error of perception )
5/
UPA was a🇺🇦partisan army fighting foreign oppressors, colonisers,colonialists-Russians & Poles. Since Jews mostly held pro-Polish sentiments & historically were the land holders, tavern owners, church lease-holder & tax collectors, they were perceived as part of the problem. 6/
Jewish exploitation of Ukrainian peasants & serfs was one of the root causes of this animosity. 7/
After the retreat of the Soviet army, Ukrainians initially mistakenly welcomed the Germans, thinking they were liberators. Then reality set in, and the perception of Hitler & Germany was quickly reversed.

Ukraine is not full of Nazis. Jews who are living here know the truth. We feel anger because of this propaganda-before the war, we didn't even realize how strong it was."- Ihor Shatkhin, assistant to Rabbi Avraham Wolf, Chief Rabbi of Odesa 1/
This is 🇷🇺 propaganda, amplified by: the Kremlin, 🇷🇺state press, the Jewish diaspora with an agenda, Russian trolls, Russian reflexive control via planted news stories in unsuspecting or collaborative western press, gullible editors, “useful idiots”, pro-Kremlin academics.

The chief rabbi of Russia has urged all Jews to flee Russia

Putin has zero remaining leverage & no way to replace his erstwhile primary customer-EU; he is finding out the hard way that it is much easier for consumers to replace unreliable suppliers than it is for suppliers to find new markets.
1/
Already, Putin is drawing practically no profit from gas sales, as his prior 150 bcm sales of piped gas to Europe have been replaced by a measly 16 bcm to China and pocket change in global LNG sales, barely enough to cover expenses.
2/
There are no markets for Putin to replace anything close to that 150 bcm shortfall: China lacks the necessary pipeline capacity to take any more for at least a decade and prefers domestic and diversified sources of energy anyhow

Today, in past 24 hours, we have 860 dead Russian 🇷🇺 soldiers & officers 🇷🇺⚰️✝️👍 A Record! More the 20,000 dead 🇷🇺 since Christmas, not even a month has passed, 4 days short of a month. 1/4
Whatever Ukraine is doing correctly on the battle field, keep doing it. Let’s shoot for 1,000 dead Russians 🇷🇺 per day (pun intended! ) End the war by kicking every last Russian soldier out of Ukraine, including Donbas & Crimea! 2/4
❤️🇺🇦👍🎉 Putin & Russian must lose, then collapse!

Russian #trolls, $Putin #apologists & #peaceniks all scream that USA should not be funding weapons to Ukraine. It’s too expensive they say…but don’t back their opinions with evidence, the numbers

Luke Coffey: “US support to Ukraine is very real & advances America’s national interests. The U.S. has provided $27.5 B in military assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion. This equals 3.2 % of the FY 2023 defense budget, about one-tenth of one % of America’s GDP

Or in more understandable terms.. about $3.50 from each American taxpayer per week or the price of coffee at Starbucks! A bargain!” Get that..Coffey for coffee!

Putin gets stabbed in the back diplomatically! Loosing allies & friends!
Putin's favorite friends are turning away from him more often, & some are even stabbing him in the back: On the Orestokratiya channel, a collection has been compiled for the incomplete 3 weeks of 2023

👉 Iranian Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said that the country does not recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories: "Despite the excellent relations between Tehran and Moscow, we did not recognize the secession of Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions from Ukraine."

👉 The President of Serbia, Vucic, demands that Russia stop recruiting its citizens to the "Wagner" PMC and says that Crimea and Donbas are Ukraine: "We cannot and will not support Russia's invasion of Ukraine." And at the beginning of the year, Vucic said that Serbia

Stop being afraid of what might happen when Ukraine wins and Putin falls. The dangers are far higher now, and real. My article in Foreign Affairs with Mikhail Khodorkovsky (MBK Center)

"After me, chaos," is the propaganda of the monarch, the dictator who wants his allies, enemies, and subjects to believe him irreplaceable--or at least the lesser evil. It's a despicable myth to rob people of the chance at freedom everyone deserves.
2/
There is no guarantee of peace or stability in Russia when Putin falls. But what do you call this, when a genocidal dictator wages a war of choice in Europe? Making sure Ukraine wins is not only the right thing, it's the only bet on real security.
