#googlelayoffs ended an amazing 18 years at Google. Honored they hired me all those years ago, grateful for the amazing people I worked with. If I could go back in time 18 years, I would absolutely join Google again. Where else could I and not get fired?
I've always enjoyed coding and I'd do it for free... ironically #googlelayoffs severance for an 18-year veteran of Google is a year of salary and stock vesting, during which time they'll block me from coming in.
Also, I'm an optimization guy... and we just finished the yearly review process... #TIL that documenting that your tweaks save millions of dollars worth of data-center costs each year... won't prevent you from being laid off in the name of cost-cutting.
