If you think Charles McGonagal's relationship with Oleg Deripaska was bad, wait til you hear about @Chris_D_Steele. Steele was a far bigger player in the Trump-Russia probe than McGonagal. A thread:
While Steele was working for the FBI and for Democrats, he lobbied DOJ officials on behalf of Deripaska, who had visa issues at the time. He claimed that Deripaska was not the Kremlin puppet that U.S. officials believed. The DOJ's inspector general report has details:
Steele worked for Deripaska's attorney on Deripaska's legal matters, including sanctions and visa restrictions.
The FBI team investigating Trump/Russia, which relied heavily on Steele's dossier, *claims* they didn't know of this relationship but would have wanted to know.
These Keystone Kops didn't think to look at Steele's source file, which had info about his links to oligarchs, until after they cut him off as a source because of his deception.
FBI's Transnational Crime Intelligence Unit raised concerns about Steele's ties to oligarchs back in 2015. Unsurprisingly, all of the Crossfire Hurricane investigators pass the buck regarding who had responsibility to vet Steele.
From a declassified footnote in that report. Representatives for *five* Russian oligarchs used Steele as an intermediary to contact the FBI.
At a crucial point in Crossfire Hurricane (days before the first FISA would be granted), Steele was lobbying for Deripaska. He contacted DOJ's Bruce Ohr regarding sanctions on Deripaska's company.
As of February 2017, Steele was still working for Deripaska. What we don't know is whether Steele worked for Deripaska after he was personally sanctioned in 2018, and whether he still works for him.
2 reasons why this matters:
*It's hypocritical for Trump-Russia investigators to be on an oligarch's payroll.
*Steele/McGonagal were compromised by working for Deripaska and vulnerable to disinformation. This is worse for Steele, who was paid by Deripaska during Trump probe
MSNBC tells @FreeBeacon it was “unaware” that Al Sharpton received $500k from Kamala Harris campaign prior to friendly interview
But network declined comment on whether Sharpton faced discipline for violating company’s conflicts of interest policy 🧵
MSNBC ignored our inquiries on this for 2 weeks, but finally responded after the Society of Professional Journalists said these payments are a “black eye” for the network
MSNBC requires employees to disclose any conflicts of interest. Network suspended @JoeNBC and @KeithOlbermann in 2010 for donated a small amount to political campaigns without approval

AllVote is a project of Rapid Resist Action and a group called Movement Labs. AllVote spox @cmclymer apologized this week for the group’s misleading text campaign, but declined to disclose the group/donors behind it
But Rapid Resist Action, led by a former Obama official Yoni Landau, has done this before, in 2020 and 2022, sending out errant text messages about registration and poll.
State Department is standing by an adviser who spoke at an anti-Israel rally that saw chants of "Death to Israel," praise for slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and calls for Jews to be returned "back to Poland." freebeacon.com/biden-harris-a…
Dearborn mayor Abdullah Hammoud serves on State's Assembly of Local Leaders, for 20 mayors and local leaders to "share their views or concerns with foreign policy topics directly with the Department."
Hammoud is a leading voice of the anti-Israel movement, and spoke at a Dearborn rally on Sept. 25. He was introduced by Hamas/Hezbollah sympathizer Osama Siblani, who moments earlier praised Hezbollah's Nasrallah as a "hero" and said Jews would be sent "back to Poland."
Colin Allred Embraces Pro-Farrakhan Pastor Who Accused Israel of 'Apartheid' One Day After Oct. 7 freebeacon.com/elections/coli…
Allred appeared at the church of Rev. Frederick Haynes on Sept. 17, to receive a Senate endorsement. Haynes, who has called Farrakhan a "wonderful man," spoke about his collaboration with antisemitic activist Tamika Mallory seconds after praising Allred.
Weeks later, Haynes gave an explicitly anti-Israel sermon on Oct. 8.
"I recognize that we gotta be pro-Israel … or we get in trouble. Well, I'm coming to get in trouble," he preached.
He posed with a “Enduring Freedom Veterans for Kerry” poster in 2004, and his campaign website in 2006 called him a “veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.”
He never set foot in Afghanistan, serving just in Norway and Italy
Walz’s House aides were confronted with the above photo in 2009, by an Iraq vet who accused him of stolen valor.
They didn’t dispute the photo, and did not follow through with a pledge to address it.
