"Regen ag may open the doors to greenwashing", says one of the exponents of today's corporate greenwashing: the @FOLUCoalition, a platform launched by the @WBCSD, Yara, Unilever, and endorsed by the @WEF.
"FOLU emerged as a result of the World Economic Forum commission led by representatives of large transnational corporations such as the [W]BCSD & that Unilever's CEO chairs its Board of Directors" foei.org/wp-content/upl…
A #wef/#Davos panel talking about "future proteins", meatless diets for billions, and the organization EAT - which is said to have "all facts & the policies". What is EAT? This, from 2014 👇 a "Davos for food".
In practice, the dietary "policies" from EAT are part of a larger WEF-style technocracy, to be implemented by C40Cities, among others (having the EAT diet as a specific goal) - check this thread:
@WWF-linked edition of a popular comic strip in Belgium. This particular album is an absolute disgrace & clearly illustrates the mindset of a neocolonial Safari club.
It's fundamentally racist: scenes of poverty linked to the laziness of the local population (when the white protagonist asks why the local in the picture is just hanging around and not working, the latter replies: "why work?")
Obviously, the white "heroes" from Europe have come over to save Nature from the evil black poachers.
@PabloPastos & @AgusBC3: "Both Late Pleistocene & pre-industrial herbivore levels are likely to be consistently higher than what has generally been assumed, confirming increasing awareness on the importance of herbivory as a widespread ecological process" nature.com/articles/s4418…
"It carries important implications for understanding the relative importance of herbivory [...] in recycling matter & shaping ecosystems, & thus for establishing the real extent of naturally occurring forests vs alternative states that display more open ecosystems"
"Knowing the potential herbivore pressure is also important to establish livestock loads that preserve habitat integrity & avoid land degradation or biodiversity loss. But it also allows to establish greenhouse gas emission baselines that correspond to natural ecosystem fluxes"
🧵Thread summing up what I've retained from conversing with @StijnBruers, an academic & doctor in moral philosophy who takes a militant vegan worldview to the extreme. Trigger warning: this gets pretty dark at times.
To introduce him, here's an interview: ukrant.nl/magazine/dont-…
Bruers is part of @herbivorize. The goal is to eliminate predators/carnivores from the biosphere, e.g. using gene editing tools. In other words, high-tech interventionism to initiate a "Return to Eden", so that the lion will lie down with the lamb.
