1) A bizarre video was released on YouTube by the UK Imperial War Museum, analyzing the Ukraine conflict as if it was long over and using every hackneyed, uncorroborated and sensational claim about Russian military performance. There's many issues with the truth. I'll explore.
2) Samir Puri at 1:41 claims the T-72 has "increasing vulnerability in the face of much more modern weapons systems" and pontificates about Javelin/NLAW top-attack capability. In reality, these weapons have been of marginal use for the ZSU.
3) Most Russian MBT losses were from artillery & other MBTs. Conveniently, the many cases of T-72B3s and T-80BVMs surviving multiple hits are not discussed/shown. See two previous threads, including a T-80BVM surviving a Stugna-P:

4) At 2:06, Bayraktar footage is aired as Samir boasts "there has been extensive use by Ukraine of drones. These ... have proved very effective, especially against slow moving Russian armoured convoys." Incorrect.
5) The Bayraktar has been of minimal value for the ZSU, and most were destroyed early in the RF campaign. Powerful EW platforms protected RF land forces and IADs destroyed anything that got close. Donbass militia have also shot them down.
6) At 2:16, footage is shown of what appears to be a logistical convoy of unarmoured trucks hit by artillery, but the audience may think these are "tanks" hit by drones based on the preceding Puri claims.
7) At 5:12, he claims "there was a lot of aerial activity, a lot of dogfighting activity as well" as cockpit footage from a Su-25 shows S5/S8 ground attack rocket salvos being fired.
Except there wasn't much "dogfighting" thus far.
8) Even without A-50(U) AEW&C, RF VKS Su-35Ss and MiG31BMs can see Ukr MiG-29s from far longer beyond visual range distances and engage with RVV-family missiles and other weapons.
9) The MiG-29 & Su-27 variants used by Ukraine have old N019 & N001 cassegrain radars, respectively, while RF Su-35Ss use N035 phased array radars & MiG-31BMs use Zaslon-M phased array radars.
It is highly unlikely they would get close enough
to engage in a WW2-style dogfight.
10) From 5:58, the targeting display for a Ukrainian Stugna-P ATGM system is shown in use.
The system is not identified, despite previous sensational claims of ATGM performance by inferior named US/UK systems, the Javelin/NLAW.
Why is that?
11) At 6:54, M777 SPHs are shown followed by a French Caesar SPH, with over the top narration claiming "new long-range artillery donated to the Ukrainians has made Russian tanks sitting ducks".
There is no evidence of these guns scoring such consistent hits on RF MBTs...
12) ... and the fact that most of these foreign artillery systems have been destroyed by counter-battery fire, Lancets and other means is not mentioned.
See recent stills from a Lancet strike on an M777:
13) Samir Puri is not just a random academic chosen by the IWM. He observed and/or meddled in the 2004 Ukraine elections/political dramas, worked for the UK FCDO and was an OSCE "monitoring officer" in 2014-2015. He also worked for RAND, a Beltway thinktank in 2006-2009.
14) Instead of seeking out a genuine expert in armoured vehicles, warfare, and the conduct of this specific campaign - like Douglas MacGregor - IWM chose a privileged academic with no military experience or transparency on his agenda, past activities and career background.
15) Perhaps "little Samir" should have just stuck with LEGO.
(Ealing Gazette, 25.09.1987).
Addendum: a primitive troll attempt by an instantly-blocked account appeared as a Tweet quote. The childish, all-caps message screams desperation. Most instructive to observe who one of the followers of this allegedly Malaysian Twitter user is.

1) Since February, sensational, uncorroborated claims in Anglosphere media has produced dramatic feelings about a region most were unaware there was a preexisting conflict. This also created opportunities for fraud. I present you convicted rapist Kurt Christopher Ahlers of Ohio.
2) Early in 2022, a series of reports from WTOL, a CBS affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, commenced on an elusive “KC”. They claimed he was going to Ukraine on some sort of hybrid filibuster military campaign and humanitarian mission.
3) WTOL anchor Melissa Andrews said on 9 March he had "a military background and formal training"; reporter Madelyne Watkins added he had "extensive military experience". The website and YouTube video are still up with this story.

1) On 21 November, CNN's Sam Kiley created a primitive, poorly constructed report entitled "Video Shows Ukrainian Forces Entering Russian Command Center", without rigorous (or any?) corroboration of claims. Let's explore some problems with it.
2) Former minor UK Conservative Party politician Harry Rowe, going by "Macer Gifford", did not serve in his own nation's forces and has no reckonable military training, serving as an untrained YPG combatant in Syria. He is interviewed by Sam Kiley.
3) Rowe claims at :24 that "we got so close to the Russians that we could hear them talk... and chopping the wood to build their shelters". Why would VDV troops be constructing semi-permanent shelters like the ZSU? More importantly... (cont)

1) Let's take a glimpse at retired USMC Colonel and former MARSOC senior officer Andrew Milburn, a Hong Kong-born Brit (whose mother was American) who has been in Ukraine as an illegal combatant with allegedly a few dozen international veterans in his private "Mozart Group".
2) Andrew Reginald James Milburn joined the USMC in 1987 a - rare USMC Private as basically a Brit with a law degree aged 24. By 1991 he was an officer, and deployed to Somalia in 1992 in the abortive UN mission, the start of several deployments. Remains very physically fit.
3) Recently he appeared in a podcast called "The Team House", which is focused on the US SOF community. He made a series of extraordinary and ignorant claims in this appearance which are too abundant to address all individually - but I will examine the irony of one.

1) Mari Saito of Reuters claims to have a "slam dunk" of what are inferred to be sensitive documents in Balakliya in the Kharkov region near Izyum, where RF and LNR forces withdrew from weeks ago. There are several problems with this contention.
2) She shows a rough outline of the CoC. Nothing exotic or super secret here - and interesting that a UK outlet uses the terminology "section" for commanders heading battalion-size commands. A "section" in UK mil parlance is just about 8 men, headed by a Corporal/Lance Corporal.
3) What are purported to be outlandish propaganda are simply cutting remarks on factual Neo-Nazi influence in the SBU (left) and other Ukr state entities, rather than what she suggests. On the right are civil defence posters, CBRN dosimeter and biological warfare defence guides.

1) I was shown two bizarre articles from Canada's Globe and Mail today. Both express very strong views and draw sensational inferences about Russia, the Ukraine conflict and nuclear weapons, but are almost bereft of any specific sourcing or empirical data.
2) The first is by an individual who is a professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and is also described as a journalist. He appears to be primarily plugging his book project. Image
3) With a sensational headline that allows the reader to believe Putin has made offensive nuclear threats, the article instead focuses on the USSR/Cuba-US/Turkey missile dispute and offers no quotes or data on any of Putin's statements or
specific nuclear deterrent capabilities. ImageImage

1) Sky News Alex Crawford just released an utterly appallingly researched, corroborated and presented segment - "Ukrainian army units defiant over nuclear threats from Russia". There are many false, erroneous and misleading elements.
2) She claims from around :20 that ZSU forces were successfully ambushing and trapping Russian forces, but a civilian Mercedes van is shown along other destroyed civilian vehicles and a ZSU KrAZ-6322/5233, which RF forces do not use.
3) The ZSU KrAZ-6322/5233 trucks, while they may look similar to some RF ones, are only used by the ZSU in this conflict. They are made in Kremenchuk and entered service post-USSR. They have distinctive lines on the cabin roof and other minor features that appear in this wreck.
