🧵The Parole Board report was clear. Chair Bennett's actions put Virginians at risk.

Fmr. Gov. Northam's COS Clark Mercer said Chair Bennett "showed a lack of common sense and a lack of good judgment."

That lack of good judgment released ....

Cordell Reed, a convicted murderer and attempted rapist, was given parole after his parole examiner said he remained a danger to the community. The former Parole Board let him out anyway.

He went on to abduct and wound a Colonial Heights woman, and he's back behind bars.

Charles Sheppard raped a woman in front of her husband while holding a gun to their toddler's head. He's a sexually violent predator under VA law.

Chair Bennett prioritized him for release, promised to defend him, and tried to cut him loose. VPB changed their mind after she left

Maurice Jarvis committed 17 felonies, violated parole 4x, and had 7 infractions his last 2 years in prison.

After the former Parole Board let him out, he attacked a Hampton woman.

He was arrested for robbery and malicious wounding.

Toronto McCall was serving 123 years for 1st degree murder, robbery, conspiracy & a firearm offense. He was released on outdated info - Chair Bennett skipped his 2019 interview. Since then he's been arrested 2x for domestic assault & battery - there's a warrant out for his arrest

David Simpkins was serving 218 years for 42 felonies. His 8 armed robberies made him ineligible for parole.

Chair Bennett broke Virginia’s “three strikes” law and rewarded Simpkins with release. He returned the favor by robbing 10 innocent Virginians at gunpoint.
