Statement from Govt this evening on #NursingHomesGate. Seems they paid out €480m under one heading but that was, according to Mail, less than 10% of estimated liability. Curious that not one single claim made it to an open court, consistent with concealment strategy. Image
It's a red herring about the origination date of the legal strategy, whether it was 2002, 2007 or 2011, fact is, it was continued throughout the last decade.
If it's true that 300,000 people were affected by govt failings on providing nursing home care, then the payout of €480m equates to €1600 per person. That really looks unrealistically low.
Irish Daily Mail will tomorrow publish documents which evidence its reporting on Sunday. Leo Varadkar was made explicitly aware as health minister in 2016. The legal strategy was drafted in 2011 [doesn't rule out previous iterations].

Did Gardai play a role in the Regency Hotel attack on 5 February 2016?
TLDR? This is a summary of the Hutches & Kinahans trying to, and occasionally succeeding in, killing each other in a 14-week period just prior to the Regency boxing weigh-in which was not policed by Gardai...
The following is going seem a bit mad to you because the proposition is this: a rogue Garda or Gardai colluded in a militaristic gun attack on an event attended by a large number of innocent adults and children. But bear with it...
The proposition echoes that from that curious dramatised video in 2021, which many people think was funded by Daniel Kinahan. While the video was poo-pooed, the central question, why weren’t Gardai posted at the event, has never been answered.

Hmmm, "the department of health does not comment on matters pertaining to litigation"
This story in today's Mail on Sunday of a 12-year long strategy by govt to deprive the most vulnerable of €10bn due for unlawful nursing homes costs, looks like a govt-toppling bombshell.
The Ombudsman published this report in 2010, which revealed that residents of nursing homes had claims against the State worth billions because the State failed to provide them with care, or charged them unlawfully.
ombudsman.ie/publications/r…
It seems the incoming FG/Labour govt in 2011 adopted a legal strategy to refuse claims, fight them as far as discovery if anyone sued the State, and then secretly settle. That strategy was endorsed by successive attorneys general, and ministers for health.

Pat Cox British outfit Gresham House [which generates 35% margins per annum for its investors] which has entered a deal with Coillte, now says it is representing pensioners. Ah, poor wee dotes. How could you now doubt their bona fides. ImageImage
A reminder that the Canadian [awesome country, decent people] Teachers [salt of the earth generally] Pension Fund runs our scumbag Lotto. And they used run Britain's lottery through their Camelot unit. Take a look at this court case to see just what scumbags they truly are. Image
Here, Lotto market to problem gambers, give lousy returns to gamblers, take for themselves 10% of their gambling takings . In UK, they tried to stop another company taking over the lottery licence, & even tried to stop good causes getting anything until the dispute was resolved.

Today, the govt will take between €4-8m a year from the taxpayer and use it to bail out RTE. How? They're going to push through a law to transfer the National Symphony Orchestra from RTE to the National Concert Hall and relieve RTE of its cost. A thread...
The NSO has around 70 employees and God-knows-how-many contractors. Look at them there. How much does the NSO actually cost RTE every year? It's not clear because RTE doesn't give a breakdown in its €13m orchestras/choir costs, but it's believed to be €8m.
RTE is supposed to fund the NSO from the licence fee. Legally. It's one of RTE's duties ["objects"] in the Broadcast Act 2009. However, RTE has moaned to govt that it is "under financial pressure" and wants rid of this cost. Here's an internal Dept of Media document.

Paul Crosby in court admits "driving KMW" to a house where the juvenile criminal was killed. But since when is driving someone somewhere a crime? Did KMW voluntarily get in the car? How did Crosby know where to pick up KMW? KMW was last seen beside Drogheda garda station...
It's easy to see why Jonathan Dowdall doesn't think he committed a crime at all with the Regency attack. Dowdall likewise admitted to "facilitating murder" but when is booking a hotel room for a friend a crime?
What the courts are inferring is, the action admitted to was undertaken knowing it was to lead to murder, or being "criminally reckless in the circumstances", but we're not hearing details of that knowledge or criminal recklessness in these hearings.

Did Gardai have a role in the killing of Keane Mulready-Woods?
TLDR? There are a lot of curious coincidences and unanswered questions [which can easily be answered by Gardai].
It’s two years since juvenile criminal Keane Mulready-Woods (17, left) from Drogheda was tortured, killed and chopped up. This week at the Special Criminal Court, we should see the sentencing of two men, including Paul Crosby (27, right) for “facilitating murder”
Three maps (1) a wide area map of Drogheda – big town, 30,000 inhabitants, 5km wide & 3km long (2) a small corner of Drogheda showing the Garda station & (3) same map with markings A, B and X-the only Garda station in Drogheda town. A & B are around 300 ft from the Garda station.
