Govt will be pleased with commencement notices for 3699 housing units in the month of February 2024, bringing the annual rolling 12-month total to 35752, the highest since records began (2012) and likely highest since 2007.

The problem is, the "housing deficit" was 250,000 units in 2018, see Leo Varadkar below, and we have 400,000 additional population since then.
And the thicko eejits in Leinster House, on all sides, are squabbling over whether the annual target should be 30,000 or 50,000

How Ireland works. A Garda division in Cork is doing something unique in Ireland – its job. And what does it get in return? Ignorant criticism from the local paper.

A thread... Despite the decriminalisation of one person selling prostitution, it is an offence to purchase prostitution, and it is an offence to organise prostitution, live off the earnings or operate a brothel. We have between 800-3000 prostitutes operating in Ireland

Sarah Carey, and why it’s an affront to public service broadcasting to platform her on RTE. Quick thread, because it seems many people have either forgotten or misremembered Sarah Carey conduct at the Moriarty Tribunal, and what happened afterwards. Image As a marketing officer for Esat, the phone company that won the auction for mobile spectrum in 1995, Carey was a witness at the Tribunal in the 2000’s As part of the Tribunal process, she was provided with confidential documents which she leaked to the Sunday Tribune paper. Introducing the McCormick family organised crime group which operates Escort Ireland, a website whose sole purpose is to encourage the breach of Part 4 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017, which outlawed the purchase of sex. A fortnight after the killing of a prostitute in Limerick, how are we doing with identifying the apartment number and the circumstances of a woman arriving from Romania three weeks previously, operating a brothel from a 2-bed [could be 3-bed] apartment? Image Journal reports today how trafficked prostitutes are paying €2k a week in rent for an apartment in non-Dublin areas. Who are the landlords? Opportunistic, or are traffickers and pimps buying the apartment?

Social Housing report for Q4,2022
4,278 homes completed [representing 47% of the 9148 which CSO say were completed nationally in Q4]
Brings to 6710 the total for 2022. Leo Varadkar has been calling that "nearly 8000" for three months!
assets.gov.ie/253682/e2c3491… Image The target in Housing for All was 9,000 units for 2022.
Govt shifted the goalposts late last year by revising down the target to 8000.
Today's figs show they've substantially undershot that target with 6710 delivered. Image

Niall Collins mansion has become mansioner!
It's now 4,000 sq ft excluding full height attic storage which would be another 1,000 sq ft+, and there's two stables and indoor horse training area.
How many stables has Mary Lou in her 2,733 sq ft mansion? It's really a Collins compound, with three Collins houses on the same site. Remains a mystery how Niall got planning permission with such a small entrance onto such a busy road.

19 January - "Corruption can’t be tolerated in any form"
9 February - "You know, I think that was at a particular point in time" speaking about Bertie Ahern lying under oath to a Tribunal about the source of €200k, which was likely obtained through corruption. Mind you, this is the same Leo Varadkar who gave Damien English a standing ovation after English submitted false information on a planning application to obtain a substantial financial advantage.

Woodvale and Shankill Community Housing Association Limited (WSCHA) is a housing association in N Ireland with around 450 homes in the Shankill and Woodvale areas of west Belfast.
And something is awry... According to the WSCHA 2022 balance sheet, the 450 homes are worth ~£30m, but the company values homes at their acquisition price minus annual depreciation over 100 years. If the homes were valued on the open market, they’d be worth ~£60m. So, quite a major outfit. Image

Statement from Govt this evening on #NursingHomesGate. Seems they paid out €480m under one heading but that was, according to Mail, less than 10% of estimated liability. Curious that not one single claim made it to an open court, consistent with concealment strategy. Image It's a red herring about the origination date of the legal strategy, whether it was 2002, 2007 or 2011, fact is, it was continued throughout the last decade.

Did Gardai play a role in the Regency Hotel attack on 5 February 2016?
TLDR? This is a summary of the Hutches & Kinahans trying to, and occasionally succeeding in, killing each other in a 14-week period just prior to the Regency boxing weigh-in which was not policed by Gardai... The following is going seem a bit mad to you because the proposition is this: a rogue Garda or Gardai colluded in a militaristic gun attack on an event attended by a large number of innocent adults and children. But bear with it...

Hmmm, "the department of health does not comment on matters pertaining to litigation"
This story in today's Mail on Sunday of a 12-year long strategy by govt to deprive the most vulnerable of €10bn due for unlawful nursing homes costs, looks like a govt-toppling bombshell. The Ombudsman published this report in 2010, which revealed that residents of nursing homes had claims against the State worth billions because the State failed to provide them with care, or charged them unlawfully.

Today, the govt will take between €4-8m a year from the taxpayer and use it to bail out RTE. How? They're going to push through a law to transfer the National Symphony Orchestra from RTE to the National Concert Hall and relieve RTE of its cost. A thread... The NSO has around 70 employees and God-knows-how-many contractors. Look at them there. How much does the NSO actually cost RTE every year? It's not clear because RTE doesn't give a breakdown in its €13m orchestras/choir costs, but it's believed to be €8m.

Paul Crosby in court admits "driving KMW" to a house where the juvenile criminal was killed. But since when is driving someone somewhere a crime? Did KMW voluntarily get in the car? How did Crosby know where to pick up KMW? KMW was last seen beside Drogheda garda station... It's easy to see why Jonathan Dowdall doesn't think he committed a crime at all with the Regency attack. Dowdall likewise admitted to "facilitating murder" but when is booking a hotel room for a friend a crime?

Did Gardai have a role in the killing of Keane Mulready-Woods?
TLDR? There are a lot of curious coincidences and unanswered questions [which can easily be answered by Gardai]. It’s two years since juvenile criminal Keane Mulready-Woods (17, left) from Drogheda was tortured, killed and chopped up. This week at the Special Criminal Court, we should see the sentencing of two men, including Paul Crosby (27, right) for “facilitating murder”
