Tanks, strike aircraft and armored vehicles: brief overview of weaponry for Ukraine. UkraineWorld spoke to Ivan Kyrychevsky, military expert at Defense Express Media & Consulting Company. Key points – in our brief, #UkraineWorldAnalysis 1/12
The number of Abrams tanks in the world is greater than the number of Leopards. Between the 21 countries which operate Leopards, there are about 400 total tanks, while the US Army alone has 2,600 tanks in service and approximately 3,600 in storage. 2/12
Tornado strike aircraft, which are now being discussed, are now in the condition of "flying coffins". Merkel's government failed to purchase the F-35 fighter jets that were supposed to replace the Tornado. 3/12
The German treasury now has to pay double price for the F-35 and allocate funds to extend the Tornado's service life for a couple more. 4/12
It must be understood that the F-35 and Tornado are capable of carrying tactical nuclear weapons. There is an American air base in Germany where 20 tactical nuclear bombs are stored, and it is the German Air Force that must provide the carriers. 5/12
Germany is famous for its rational calculation mindset. But in order to provide Ukraine with air defense, Germany supplied IRIS-T complexes, which were initially intended for Egypt, and in fact Germany lost money on its export contract to help Ukraine. 6/12
Before the full scale invasion, Ukraine had had 800 tanks. In the first 3 months of the war, we lost 400. Our allies have supplied us with 300 Soviet-type tanks. 7/12
Almost all Soviet-made tanks, such as the T-72, were scrapped in Eastern Europe, meaning that there are very few to replace Ukraine’s losses. Thus, Western tanks are literally a means of survival. 8/12
The Senator and Bulldog APCs and Marder IFVs being supplied from Britain, Canada, and Germany are needed to support tanks. We were first given Marder IFVs, and then Leopard 2 tanks. 9/12
Marders are driven by panzergrenadiers, which can support tanks in battle. Zaluzhny noted that 700 armored vehicles are needed for 1-2 offensive operations. 10/12
For example, the Bradleys that America has promised have caused a stir because they can not only support infantry on the battlefield, but also destroy tanks. They can be used both for maneuverable defense and for offensive operations. 11/12
The Kh-22 was intended not only for striking 🇺🇸 aircraft carriers, but also for strikes on Europe. When the disposal of our Tu-22M2 and Tu-22M3 bombers began in the 2000s, our own Kh-22 stocks were taken at the same time. Estimates indicate 🇷🇺 has around 160 Kh-22 missiles left.

The agreement to provide Ukraine with Leopards 2 and Abrams tanks ruined the Russian narrative about the West "losing interest" in Ukraine. However, it also created new narratives. 2/6
As it was made during HIMARS and NASAMS supplies, Russian propagandists focused on messages about "ineffectiveness" of the weapons in contrast to Russian. 3/6
An important part of the international support for 🇺🇦 is the training of Ukrainian soldiers. According to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, almost all the countries of the EU and NATO have joined the various training programs. 1/4
However, Russian propagandists continue to insist that no military training will turn a mobilised Ukrainian into a professional operator of sophisticated NATO equipment and weapons in just a few months, suggesting that “it's worth considering another version. 2/4
What if these "Ukrainian soldiers" who will be "trained" are, in fact, members of the NATO countries or mercenaries undergoing a short course before being sent to battle in Ukraine?” 3/4
The story of Oleksandr Semeryanov, head of the village of Korobochkyne, Kharkiv Oblast. #UkraineWorldTestimony 1/14
The village of Korobochkyne in Kharkiv Oblast managed to escape occupation, but it suffered from 🇷🇺 artillery shelling for more than six months. By the end of Feb., the villagers already understood that🇷🇺 troops were approaching. On March 6, 🇷🇺 intelligence officers arrived. 2/14
At that moment, the headman of Korobochkyne, Oleksandr Semeryanov, was on the outskirts of the village. People began to call him and tell that 🇷🇺 soldiers had entered the village. While Oleksandr was thinking about what to do and 📱 the police, local residents 📱 him again. 3/14
China's policy on the Russo-Ukraine war: A conflict of interest. UkraineWorld spoke to Oleksiy Koval, international journalist, China specialist. Key points – in our brief, #UkraineWorldAnalysis 1/14
China has set a goal of improving relations with the US and Europe this year. Moreover, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will visit China on February 5, in accordance with the agreement reached between Presidents Xi and Biden at the G20 summit. 2/14
There are two aspects that determine whether China will manage to improve its relations with the West: 1. China's relations with Russia. China is trying to maintain its partnership with Russia while also improving relations with Europe and the US. 3/14
Ukrainian culture and cultural infrastructure have been under systematic attacks by Russia since 2014 despite claims that "culture is outside of politics". 1/6
The repression of Ukrainian culture, erasing any signs of Ukraine, torturing pro-Ukrainian artists have become a strategy in Crimea and coupled parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014. 2/6
After the beginning of full-scale invasion, Russia commits direct attacks against cultural sites and repressions of Ukrainian culture in the occupied territories. 3/6
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree which states Ukrainian officials will no longer be allowed to leave the country unless on official business trips or under certain personal circumstances. #UW_InfoWatch#AgainstRussianLies
Zelenskyy said this applied to “all those who are supposed to work for the state and in the state.”
However, 🇷🇺 propaganda is manipulating these changes to legislation stressing that “shortly, women will be sent to serve in the army on an equal basis with men.” #UW_InfoWatch
In fact, now women can register for military service, but voluntarily. And from October 1, 2023, it will become an obligation for women from many professions/specialities. #RussiaUkraineWar
