Teachers on Strike a 🧵
Three years ago you stood on your doorsteps clapping for the key workers, they included teachers.
The schools remained opened the whole way through the pandemic. They taught your children in spite of what was going on in the world. /1
They did their best to keep them calm in a frightening time for all. Often juggling teaching your children while having their own loved ones off ill. These same teachers are suffering fatigue and mental exhaustion. /2
Now those key workers are on strike and being vilified by the government and the press. They’re striking for fair pay they’re striking for your children’s welfare and safety and they’re striking to save the education system. /3
State schools are woefully underfunded. Staff are leaving in droves. Teachers do not work an 8-4 Monday to Friday job they don’t have 13 weeks holiday. /4
They are in schools often from 6am working through the day many don’t get home until 7pm then there is marking and lesson prep to do. Staff meetings parents evenings etc. A teacher's day is often tipping 14 hours plus many of which they are not paid for. /5
They often spend their weekends and so-called holidays prepping lessons, marking work, filling out endless paperwork to tick boxes, ensuring your children are not falling through the cracks of a woefully underfunded education system. /6
Teachers up and down the nation are paying for, out of their own pocket, much needed supplies for their students because the funding is not there.
Due to a decrease in school budgets support staff were the first to go. /7
Hundreds of schools rely on the caring nature of their staff to supply the vital services for children needing support. The staff do this because they care because they are compassionate people. /8
The pay rise the media tells you they have is coming out of the already existing individual School Budget.
Please know this isn’t a day off for teachers they don’t get paid on strike days. /9
Many can’t afford to strike but are doing so to ensure that the environment you send your children to every day is a safe one. /10
It may be an inconvenience to you to have your child off school today but the ramifications of not going on strike are far greater. The very least we can all do is support them. We owe them that much. /11
When you hear the word hero many think of those in uniform firefighters, police officers, NHS workers etc & rightly so but I also include teachers in that bracket who inspire a generation who teach them who keep them safe. The people we entrust to look after our children. /12
If you clapped on your doorstep three years ago and don’t support them today you need to take a long hard look in the mirror. Speak to the teachers and ask them what is happening in schools. Ask them why they are striking. Educate yourselves /13
Worn down by a Tory government
They’ve filled our rivers and our seas with excrement
Came for your rights but that wasn’t enough
Made up total b*llocks about levelling up now
Striking in the UK, need a strike to save the UK
Need a strike to save the UK, Striking in the UK now
It's that time again when I break my own notifications to bring you this week's circle of beautiful beings. If you want the #ToriesOut204 why not gives these guys a follow. If you aren't here you are still valued. 🥰❤️🫶#SpreadTheLove
So I've had an idea. It might seem radical but go with it. We have OFCOM, OFWAT & OFSTED - regulatory bodies for communications, energy companies & education. Now it struck me we don't have a regulatory body for political parties. With that in mind I propose the following...
OfGov - for whoever is in power at the time. Subject to spot inspections of finances, working environment and productivity, whether it's good value for money, overseeing any complaints made against them etc...
OfCON - Regulatory body overseeing Tories finances, behaviour, working environment, productivity, investigate any complaints made against them. Are they doing the job they are paid to do etc ... (they're really not btw)
I’ve never done a hard day’s work no stress
I got my job from having friends in high places
and I am proud of my address
in a high class town, no working class faces
But every day’s like
Champagne, Caviar, drinking in the commons
coked up, pissed up no seat belt on the car runs
We don’t care
We’re just living our grifting life
Here it is this week's Circle prepare yourself for your notifications to go off! Just feast your eyes on these luscious beings 🥰. I am so blessed. As always if you aren't here you are still valued this is a brief snapshot in time. Just know The Duchess appreciates you all ❤️🫶✊
