Russia is insane about renaming streets of the occupied territories. They always massively rename everything, including the cities and towns after occupation. Here is an interesting example of their logic: re-naming list for Ukrainian Melitopol, occupied by the Russians (THREAD)
Here is the list. I marked some of changes to present the Russians' logic. It is clear, why they have renamed Pylyp Orlyk street - the auther of the first Ukrainian Constitution in 16th century. Now it is Blucher street, after a Soviet warlord in 1920s. But what about others? 2/x
The Jewish street is now Dagin street, a Melitopol-born Stalinist high-ranked NKVD officer, a henchman and a murderer, organizer of GULag. The priorities are being set clear. 3/x
Out of Oleksandr Dovzhenko street and 2 Dovzhenko lanes, a Ukrainian genius of cinema, came Karl Liebknecht street and lanes. Out of Yaroslav the Wise founder of Kyivan Rus came Rosa Luxemburg street+lanes. Are the leftists in Germany happy with this erasing of local memory? 4/x
The Russians gladly erase everything Ukrainian, even if the names are Soviet-conform. So Korolev street (the father of the Soviet space program) is Kuybyshev now, the Professor Tanatar, a Melitopol-born ethnic Tatar, geologist and prospector of Donbas - MOSCOW street, and... 5/x
...Akhmet-Khan Sultan, a Soviet fighter pilot ace, a Hero of the Soviet Union, who fought against the Nazi Germany is now... OCTOBER street. I think because of the very simple reason: Akhmet-Khan Sultan was a Crimea Tatar. So much about the "Holy WW2 memory" for Russia. 6/x
Another Soviet decorated academic Paton, who developed the technology for tank steel welding, increasing the Soviet tank production, is also not good for the Russians, because he was a Ukrainian, so now it is Lazo street - after a Soviet warlord who fought in Siberia in 1920s 7/x
Another greeting to the German Left: Pavlo Syvytsky street, named after a forester who invested decades into preservation and development of the local ecology system around Melitopol, is now Thälmann street. I have no words left. /END

Well, as some of my English-speaking followers developed their interest for the Berlin local politics, let me start this thread about the challenges and conflicts amid the Berlin local political campaign. This thread will be very simple, without many nuances, just the basics. 1/x
So, first of all, why do this elections take place at all and what do they decide? Berlin is one of 16 regions ("federal states") in GER. Regions have a broad self-governance, for ex. they have competence in police issues, education (different school programs), media law etc. 2/x
Regions have their parliaments and prime-ministers. Three regions are cities (Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen), their PMs are called "governing majors". Every region sends its reps (3 to 6, dependent on the number of people in the region) to "Bundesrat", the "Chamber of Lands" 3/x

THREAD Why it is important to ban all the Russian athletes from the sport events? Because most of them are ACTIVE OFFICERS of the RU army or militarized police (RosGvardiya). Let us check the Gold Winners of Tokyo2020. Vitalina Bazarashkina gold in shooting: Lieutenant RosGvardia
Nikita Nagorny, gold in athletics. 1st Lieutenant of Rosgvadia, and a head of the "Young Army" militarized movement for the Russian kids, a Putin's "Hitlerjugend". Note how many RogGvardia officers were promoted with Nagorny because they also were "athlets" winning medals. 2/x
Inna Deriglazova, 1st Lietenant of Army, decorated with an Army medal "For Military Valor", together with other athletes who are officers of the Russian army.

THREAD The new official Russian narrative (expressed today by Lavrov and by Putin) is that this war is just a continuation of a centuries-long attempt by the West to destroy Russia. The West which was united under Hitler back than and the US now. This is not a new concept at all.
First, we must understand a starting point for this idea. It was not the WWII, but the Napoleon invasion in 1812. Like in WWII, Russia ended this war as a part of an international coalition entering Paris. Not in Russian textbooks! In them, Russia fought all the way alone! 2/x
In official ideology, and in the literature, the Napoleon invasion in 1812, was called “an invasion by 20 nations”, stressing that it allegedly was not a Napoleon war, but a collective decision of all the European nations. The word “20” es used in its old form: дванадесяти /3

THREAD A Latvia-based Russian media "Vazhnyye istorii" (Important stories) found out one of the Russian engineers who prepared the terror strike on Dnipro, and called him. Read the transcript of this chilling dialogue with the drunk Nazi.
Engineer (E): What do you know about me?
Journalist (J): I want to ask you
E: You think I have pushed the button, fck? Or I was sitting in that plane? (Laughing). What do you want, fck? (Laughing)
J: You are an engineer at 52nd heavy bomber air force regiment, right? 2/x
E: Yes! Not right! I am a citizen of the Russian Federation. But I am no way a person who you say I am. What is your problem (he starts to use intonations of a street mobster, clearly hearable by any familiar with Russian language). If you have any info, it is your problem 3/x

The defense minister job is call a "Schleudersitz" (shlOI-dah-zits), "ejection seat" in German, pointing out the high chances to be forced into a resignation. Is it true? THREAD (cartoon: DefMin Ursula vdLeyen: "if the ejection seat parachute fails, my predecessors are to blame")
Annegret Krampf-Karrenbauer (AKK) was DefMin in 2019-21. She was (my opinion) one of the best DefMin in Germany, but had to leave the political Olymp, as her chancellor candidacy chances disappeared. Several far-right terrorist groups were discovered in Bundeswehr back then too.
Ursula von der Leyen. Minister 2013-19. Scandals about non-functioning assault rifle G39, cosmic payments for McKinsey consultations, and costs for maintenance of "Gorch Fock" training navy vessel. She is doing now a good job as a President of the EU Commission.

I still digest my impressions from Izyum and the talks with the locals.
- We hid in the house and went out only when needed
- The girls cut their hairs and made their faces dirty
- When I came to Kharkiv after three months of the occupation and entered a shop, I started to cry as I saw so much of the bread.
- There are as a woman in the local administration, she collaborated with the Russians. And when people came to her after the liberation and asked for a subsidy, she said “nobody knows what currency it will be here in 2 months”. She still waits for the Russians to return!
