1/20 There's growing sentiment that @RTFKT's not focusing enough on #CloneX as god-tier of ecosystem. In reality OGs have received every drop, but RTKFT's taking a siloed approach in creating greater aggregated collection value. A🧵 to explain, why it hasn't worked & how it can:

Unlike a lot of other NFTs, RTFKT is a multifaceted brand aiming to provide EVERYTHING you could possibly want in a digital metaverse-ready identity. From gamified shoe leveling to luxury 'phygitals'. But that scope also means not everyone might want to participate in each part.

This is why separating the different parts into ecosystems makes sense and Clones have gotten free access to each new vertical - with option to stick around or cashing-out. Now Clones are demanding that everything be tied to the pfp rather than the initial ecosystem base drops.

Taking this approach could have several long term negative effects around future drop value and ecosystem growth opportunity. It would raise the Clone floor price perhaps but it would put less net $ into Clones pockets over the long haul.

First we have to get beyond using simple main pfp floor price as barometer of project financial success. We must include the drops or it makes no financial sense. From that standpoint aggregated collection value is the golden barometer that should be compared.

When you silo the different drops into their own bucket, and treat them like proper entry points into the wider RTFKT ecosystem there are several advantages gained. You replace the uninterested CloneX holders of said assets with dedicated new strong conviction based holders.

It goes from a dumping ground to a new attractive entry point in becoming a dedicated community member as you now are part of a supported/maintained ecosystem that is eligible for future drops. Floor price goes up & you cultivate future CloneX holders in an organic way.

Remember that whilst each vertical/ecosystem is quite diverse in what they do, they all tie back to Clones and are best experienced with Clones. The guy that collects Cryptokick vials will one day get bored of simply displaying the shoes in a gallery and will want to wear them.

RTFKT more so than any other current NFT brand has much to gain from growing their holder and creator base. They could like others easily just be a 'vibe' brand where holders passively wish for the brand to magically become Supreme, but in RTFKTs case the ceiling is much higher.

The addressable market size for being the standard in metaverse wearables & collectables is likely to be massive in the years and decades ahead. To be the 'Steam' style standard though you need network effects and a strong lively creator ecosystem - aka need users and creators.

Gaming giants give out their consoles at cost to devs & retail at times because boosting the number of creators and customers boosts # of games and game sales. Often times these two need to be attracted at equal pace or neither stick around resulting in chicken or egg problem.

So RTFKTs strat of creating strong ecosystems & attracting/retaining new people makes a lot of sense, why hasnt it worked? Delays & fumbles. Outsiders that took a gamble hv witnessed the missed execution & abandonment of ecosystems & decided they dont wish to partake any further.

This has meant that the desired funnel & flywheel effect back into Clone demand has not materialized leaving both non-Clone and Clone ecosystem participants frustrated. With strain on both floor price & level of complexity - calls for a change make sense.

Afterall, the NFT space is rife with unsophisticated 'investors' that want to buy 1 thing, hodl & retire for life off dividends like #BAYC. So in these harsh turbulent times, the RTFKT valuations & holder sentiment has plummeted and outsiders looking in are naturally thrown off.

But as mentioned earlier RTFKT has different goals/needs - thus simply copying @yugalabs isnt some magic bullet. Thankfully the team is taking big steps this year to consolidate different parts & connect dots through its upcoming INVTRY app, site & lore.

An easy central place to see & equip all different ecosystem collectibles and all of it translating to one collector score (which could be the core reward delivery mechanism) would wipe away alot of complexity & clearly put the Clones at the center of it all for all to see.

Once you combine that with fleshed out ecosystems (eg: pods with walking Clone avatars wearing evolved Cryptokicks & AR hoodies) then the funnel around needing/wanting a Clone gets turned back on and effort to have made more inclusive ecosystems start paying dividends for Clones.

So far the siloed approach gamble hasn't paid off & you can see both Clone & different vertical collection floor prices suffer. BUT imo we need to analyze the root cause of the problems & seek proper long term solutions rather than easy populist band-aid fixes.

The right balance needs to be struck between keeping Clones @ center yet still hving inclusive ecosystems that'll aid in the pursuit of becoming THE metaverse standard.The INVTRY app & matured ecosystems will hopefully restore the balance & elevate Clones to metaverse god status.
