#RobotDebtRC PwC’s Shane West refuses to refer to his assessment of Robodebt as “damning”, but when pressed, could not name a single aspect of the scheme that was
“working well”
He also wasn’t too keen on spelling out the millions they pocketed, till Greggery plucked it out.
West was forced to name a number of others in PwC at the time who were involved with this report, I suspect they might be interested parties for the RC for the next set of hearings, as well as Jason Macnamara who gave evidence previously but has been squarely named here again
It gave the Commissioner a lot to think about, as she unravels a hidden corporate agenda associated with this illegal, and deadly scheme.
For those wondering how PwC was able to keep more years of contracts going, listen to the words of Justin Greggery.
By not providing DHS with their final draft/proposal, they kept the information to themselves, so they can continue to ‘consult’ 🤔#RobodebtRC

Alarming facts out of the #RobodebtRC after Shane West’s train wreck hearing.
On Feb 2017, BEFORE the Ombudsman released their report into Robodebt, Former Services Australia manager Jason McNamara told PwC that the
“Ombudsman Report will say all aspects of the system are good” Image
Remember McNamara had also later written that he “shaped” the Ombudsman report, after it was completed, as shown in evidence during his hearing I believe sometime in December.
Likely he will be called back in.
Greggery picked up on this & questioned West who denied knowing what McNamara would have meant by saying that.

#RoboDebtRC PwC’s Shane West says it’s “hard to tell” if they made any money at all out of their contracts with DHS because they “don’t have the systems that allow” them to even find out. 😳
Don’t they have to declare their profit & expenses for tax purposes? How can they not be able to know if they made a profit or not?
Just unbelievable.
Commissioner: “Would it be fair to say that PwC didn’t spend years working with DHS because of its concern for the average welfare recipient?”

West: “Uhh, I, I think it would be…
Yes… but…” 😒

#RobodebtRC DHS contracted PwC to review Robodebt in 2017 who produced a Draft Report. PwC’s Shane West tries to justify why it got to its final stages before it was “shelved”
Both Commissioner & Greggery KC take turns to send West’s head spinning 🔥🔥🔥[1/3]
#RoboDebtRC PwC’s Shane West astonishingly says his firm relies on the word of others without documenting things or keeping record [2/3]
#RobodebtRC Commissioner suggests there’s been a
“nod & a wink” between DHS & PwC.
Shane West doesn’t deny it. He just
“can’t recall” [3/3]

Former DHS Lawyer Maris Stipnieks: “It would depend on what you define as Last Resort?”

Angus Scott: “I suggest Last Resort means, Last Resort”

Stipnieks: “That’s a reasonable explanation” 🤦‍♂️
Funny how those without legal quals say “im not a lawyer!”

But then when the actual lawyers are questioned, they lack the most basic concepts. How embarrassing for this bloke who may have thought he had some credibility, or brains.

“I don’t recall” in almost every sentence.
Has also blamed DSS, blamed his own staff.

Scott doing a good job calling out his BS. And going hard at him. 💥

I won’t be running a commentary on this hearing due to having missed too much but I’ve seen enough to know this guy is an absolute tool.

#RoboDebtRC Nathan Williamson, former DSS Dep. Secretary, agrees he was alerted about the 2018 legal advice, but conveniently “can’t recall” what it was about, or what he did about it.
This 2018 advice identified Robodebt was illegal.
This is 2018, only a few years ago, he is another that was giving vulnerable people illegal debts as punishment for not retrieving records dating back over 5+ years.

Now that it’s his turn to find records, for a RC, says its too hard!

Another PS that has to Resign now. FFS.
Williamson is asked by Scott why if he was informed of this 2018, he didn’t do anything about it?

Williamson says along the lines of he didn’t even know this advice was specifically related to Robodebt. But can’t say what else it may have related to (other than Robodebt)

#RobodebtRC Kathryn Campbell engaged PwC to run an audit on Robodebt in 2017.
Greggery asks PwC’s Shane West if they Finalised the Final draft response to the audit.
Shane West: “uhh, sort of” 😳
West says he can’t recall any discussions he or anyone from PwC had with DHS at the time.

Over & over he says “I can’t recall”

Commissioner asks if PwC met their contractual obligations with DHS.
West: “Can’t recall”

Commissioner lashes West who says there are no records💥
The final draft which West claimed was “sort of” finalised, wasn’t finalised from what can be seen. His claims of lack of memory being his main defence.

Commissioner scathing.

Greggery brings up the final draft. Refresh your memory now Mr West?
Yeah, I guess so, claims West.
