I'm a Mainland Chinese citizen, high profile, and at risk. @Vice broke a written agreement not to discuss my relationships or personal life- they never do with men in tech they interview. In the end, the speculation in their article directly resulted in my being Outed.
In the weeks prior to the release of the article I knew would turn my world upside down dozens of journalists were told of the situation- journalists in China with full knowledge of exactly what @Vice was doing would result in. All were too careerist to speak up- and still are.
I begged @UWJournEthics, @risj_oxford, @spj_tweets, @cnmediaproject, @onoorgombuds, @EJNetwork for help. Not one would intercede, speak up, or even mediate. They do not exist to advocate any kind of ethical code- they exist to ensure the profession has a veneer of legitimacy.
Before defending myself I pursued *every* avenue- I begged @Vice to talk to journalists with experience reporting in China, about exactly what the potential consequences were of Outing a high-profile Chinese woman- they refused. They had clickbait, and did not care who it harmed.
My obligation is the safety of myself, my partner, and my family. I have a right to defend myself against a threat, acted on simply for the sake of clicks. @Vice came to my country, lied to me to get a story, and not one organization would hold them to account.
You don't get to harm someone and play the victim when it's clear you knowingly intended harm, and they act to protect themselves- no matter what your profession.
The end result of my acting to protect myself, and mine was @Vice pressuring @Patreon to terminate my account.
I've lost 2/3rd of my income for the last 5 years- which I accept as the consequence of needing to defend myself by the only path remaining. But not one person responsible has faced even mild rebuke from their colleagues. The entire profession is complicit. No one spoke up.
Western Journalists have broad leeway under freedom of speech laws- this is good. In most countries, they are not directly regulated by the state- this is also good. But I'm living proof, that like police with Qualified Immunity, the profession is incapable of self-regulating.
You are not "one of the good ones" if you see parachute journalists throw at-risk women living in authoritarian countries under the bus- and are silent because you don't want to burn bridges. As a journalist, you are accountable, if all are silent? The profession is to blame.
Correction, @BeijingPalmer did reach out at the time on backchannel I think and try to explain. The rest of the foreign correspondents I contacted- who are quick to feign concern for Chinese, did nothing and said nothing when the danger posed was from one of their own.

I've met a few "pet influencers" here. People that rely on their pets for some, or all of their online content. None of them have what I would consider healthy, happy relationships with their pets. Some are flat-out abusive- even though the dogs look cute and happy in videos.
Working dogs exist and an acting/modeling dog is a kind of working dog. But animal wrangling is a highly trained profession. People can do 99 takes, most dogs don't know what they did wrong, they just know they got hit or scolded 99 times and then for some reason fed the 100th.
Those cute TikTok videos you see- a lot of that's not normal for a dog to do. Not all these dogs are outliers. These dogs are income-producing property and their owners- sometimes unintentionally because they have no formal training, become cruel in maximizing their profit.

You will recall at that for many years I vouched for the 3D-printed gun community. They were focused on specific technical objectives and had no tolerance for the dialog and privilege escalation tactics we've come to associate with disseminating hateful ideologies.
The vast majority of the members of the various groups that comprise the 3D-printed gun community still feel this way. But, there are a few high-profile members who have made significant headway in establishing that this conduct has a place and the push back has been very limited
Some of these members are prolific contributors that offer substantial innovations and are perfectly willing to limit the distribution of those files to closed groups of like-minded individuals. This has made other, more moderate members reluctant to rebuke them.

More video from last night...
I always have to yell at husbeard to shoot low so I look tall, but Kaidi seems intent on doing whatever the Muslim version of a mitzvah is and gets *all* up there for you with the fan-service camera. Usually, I don't post those, but I guess two won't hurt if they're from her😅

Once again, if Asian and White girls can identify as Bimbos so can Black women. Why do we have to do this every time? Black cosplayers, Black Lolita- anytime they deviate from the gross stereotypical Grrr Strong Sassy Black Woman folks have a problem.
I do not identify as a Bimbo, it's not my kink- but they are super friendly and if you poke around the community it doesn't take much to see what the deal is. If you tell most guys they're just a "big dumb sex object" you're going to get a stupid grin. It's not a complicated kink
Stupid women do not fantasize about being stupid, any more then men with no control in their lives fantasize about giving up control to a dominatrix. People want what they don't get normally, for Bimbos that's feeling like people are sexually attracted to them.

Obviously, these aren't good-faith questions, it's conclusions from decades of Sinophobic propaganda. But that does not mean from the outside looking in, it can't look a bit like this sometimes- particularly if we don't try to show evidence to the contrary.
I'll give it a shot.
>Why is China not creative?

This is more "Why does China often appear to not be creative in ways Western cultures recognize and value?"

I'd start here with this article I wrote way back for @hackaday

hackaday.com/2017/08/30/lu-…
A typical celebrated form of creativity in the West might be a novel design. A clever new way of doing something- that something else already does very well. "Reinventing the wheel" is actually something to be proud of for you- which I get, but understandably many Chinese don't.

The GoPro harnesses are fairly soft elastic so are pretty limited as far as what kind of weight they can support. I'd consider modifying a shoulder sling, or use splinting thermoplastic molded to your shoulder- you can easily add black straps, etc. for a less medical look.
As far as batteries my hard rule is no unshielded lipo batteries strapped to people🔥. I prefer not to use them at all in wearables these days, but at a minimum, they need to cleanly detach from your body with a single push- no pockets, complicated straps etc.
Next, you have to consider where you're going to be using it. If it's a Maker Faire or similar event, you need to be able to run it all day, and you need something the airlines will accept, and if they don't, something that you can replace when you arrive.
