๐Ÿ”ฑKanampulla Nayanar, a 46th Nayanar Saint, was born in the family of farmers in Pullirukkuveloor or Irukkuveloor. He was a great Shiva Bhakta. He wanted to utilise all his wealth in Shiva Bhagwan's service only.
๐Ÿ”ฑ He would light the lamps in Shiva temples and used to sing His praises. Bhagwan Shiva once decided to test his devotion.
๐Ÿ”ฑKanampulla Nayanar's wealth quickly eroded and he moved to Thillai Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram, where he earned a living by cutting and selling Kanampul grass.
๐Ÿ”ฑ He used to purchase ghee with the money and light the lamps. Because he cut grass known as Kanampul, he was known as Kanampulla Nayanar. One day he couldn't sell the grass but he did not want to swerve from his duty.
๐Ÿ”ฑHe went to the temple and made a wick out of the grass and burnt it. The quantity of grass was not enough. So, he brought his own head near the lamp, spread his hair near the lamp, in order to burn it. Bhagwan Shiva, pleased with his Bhakti, appeared before him.
๐Ÿ”ฑBhagwan Shiva blessed him and released him from the cycle of rebirth.

๐Ÿšฉ The Chapekars are Chitpavan Brahmins from Konkan who settled at Chinchawad near Poona where the three brothers, Damodar, Balkrishna and Vasudeo, were born about 1870, 1873 and 1879 respectively.

๐ŸŒบ First of all, Sati took the form of Kali. Her form was fearful, Her hair untied and loose, Her body the color of a dark cloud. She had deep-set eyes and eyebrows shaped like curved swords.
๐ŸŒบShe stood on a corpse, wore a garland of skulls, and earrings made from the bones of corpses. She had four hands โ€“ on one hand, she had the head of a skull, and the other a curved sword with blood dripping on it.
๐ŸŒบShe had mudras on Her other two hands โ€“ one giving freedom from fear and the other giving blessings. She roared and the ten directions were filled with that ferocious sound.
