3~ hours until our balloon friend is turned into swiss cheese.
(hopefully)
Nothing too special to note. SNIPER team has been up all morning. The USGC HC-130 has excellent SAR capabilities, however, and would do an excellent job sighting the balloon debris, should a shootdown occur.
Starting to see an almost overwhelming amount of drone footage come out of #Bakhmut from Ukrainian forces. Here's a look at the plasterboard factory to the east of downtown...
For reference. Site is in far worse shape than I thought.
Here's the money shot. Drone operator appears to point to current Russian positions, which lie just beyond the now destroyed apartment complex on the border of town.
Here's a quick thread on how @ADSBExchange works and why it's such an invaluable component of the open source community...
For starters, ADSB Exchange is fed almost entirely by a global network of volunteers. Using a small computer (Raspberry Pi, typically), an SDR, and an antenna, you can contribute to the unfiltered collection of flight data.
Note the word unfiltered. Since ADSB Exchange is a data aggregator (not a direct data collector), there is no incentive to filter flight data. Accounts like @ElonJet take advantage of this quirk to track private aircraft that are often filtered (upon request) by sites like FR24.
