To start your day with energy, try my 5-5-5-30 morning routine:

• 5 push-ups
• 5 squats
• 5 lunges
• 30-second plank

Do it right when you get out of bed. It’ll jumpstart your metabolism and give you a natural energy boost.

I’ve been doing this since college—it works.
If it’s interesting, I can share more on my full morning routine.

After 5-5-5-30, I typically down 16oz of water (with AG1 + LMNT for greens and electrolytes) and then hop in the cold plunge.

Full send finish is mandatory.
You can adjust the 5-5-5-30 routine to tailor it to your ability level or needs.

For example: Push-ups can be done to an elevated surface to make them easier.

The important part is to move your body immediately upon waking.

Gives you a rush of energy—and a winning feeling.
The beauty of this is that you can count the day as a win as soon as you get out of bed.

I’ve had days where work/family duties have gotten crazy and I missed my regularly scheduled workouts.

5-5-5-30 + a couple of quick walks is enough to compound in the right direction.
When the sun comes out, I take my son for a long walk every morning.

A simple walk in the morning sun provides more health benefits and mental clarity than the fanciest morning routine.
I also started doing the NYT Mini Crossword early in my mornings.

It takes 1-2 minutes but gives me a quick “boot up sequence” for my brain.

Not sure if there’s any science behind it, but it seems to work.
My wife is right. Learned this lesson the hard way.
If you have nagging lower back pain, do the lunges as reverse lunges (5 per side) and really focus on engaging the hamstring and glute on each rep.

Engaging the posterior chain to start the day will help.

Helped for me for years manage nagging baseball lower back pain.
The 5-5-5-30 morning routine was one of 50+ life hacks in this free PDF.

It includes quality tips, tricks, and insights I have personally used across life, career, relationships, health, and money.

Harsh Truth: You'll literally never know what you want to be when you grow up.

The idea that you should know what you want to do with your life by the time you are 20 is one of the worst lies we are told.

I spent years stressing out over my lack of a clearly defined path...… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

This matrix is how I think about it.

Focus on:

• Asking the right questions
• Bias for action

If you do that, you’ll always make it. Image

Life Hack: Make a rule to never think twice about investments in yourself.

• Books
• Quality food
• Fitness
• Personal development
• Mental health

These investments pay dividends for a long time.
Think twice about material purchases instead.

Use the 24-Hour Rule:

After putting something in your cart, wait 24 hours to complete the order.

If you still want it, order it.

If not, skip it.

This has saved me tons on stupid impulse purchases that would have gathered dust.
“Lifestyle creep” with investments in yourself is typically a good thing.

For example:

Level 1 may be investing in a gym membership.

Level 2 may be investing in a nicer gym membership for better equipment.

Level 3 may be investing in a home gym to save you commute time.

The “Physiological Sigh” is a remarkably effective, science-backed technique to quickly eliminate stress.

• Double-inhale through your nose
• Long exhale through your mouth
• Repeat 2-3x

The next time you feel your stress level rising, try it. Immediate positive impact.
The Physiological Sigh is a breathing pattern that was first discovered in the 1930s.

It re-emerged in the 2010s based upon the research of UCLA neurobiologist Jack Feldman and Stanford biochemist Mark Krasnow.
It’s a breath pattern marked by a double-inhale that is immediately followed by a long exhale.

We do it naturally when levels of carbon dioxide in our bloodstream get too high.

It creates a relaxing sensation by releasing a lot of carbon dioxide very fast.

As I get older I’ve realized that being normal is severely overrated.
At 22 I wanted to be normal and liked by many.

At 32 I want to be weird and loved by a few.
It’s a childhood trap I fell into:

I desperately wanted to be normal, to just fit in.

Being “normal” felt like the prize.

Scary to think about how wrong this really is.

My mom hired a young writer to sit down with my 94-year-old grandmother in India and document stories from her life.

They met weekly for two years.

The process brought my grandmother immense joy—the result will bring my family joy for years to come.

Everyone should do this...
A few additional details on how it worked:

My mom found the writer through an elderly care service in India. Her request was for someone who would record and transcribe stories from my grandmother.

The writer was a recent university graduate named Raika Sengupta.
The process began shortly after the pandemic lockdowns ended in India.

Raika would visit with my grandmother every week.

Depending on my grandmother’s energy, they would meet for an hour or less.

Each time, they would pick up where they left off on her life journey.
