This is what happens when reporters mirror Republicans' language without any investigation into what the truth is.
It's absolute journalistic malpractice and I'm sick of it
The HHS guidance says pharmacies can't discriminate against people based on their ability or perceived ability to get pregnant
Basically: If you need arthritis medication, the pharmacist shouldn't be able to deny you because they're worried it could impact a potential pregnancy
THAT is what Paxton is suing over, not abortion medication. Every time a huge mainstream outlet gets something like this wrong, they are putting women's lives in danger.
it's irresponsible and infuriating
What terrifies me is that we are days (or hours!) away from getting a decision on a lawsuit that could reverse the FDA's approval of mifepristone - and I have zero faith that the media will cover it properly
Anyway you know what I'm going to say: Support media that knows what the fuck they're talking about jessica.substack.com/subscribe

First up, Florida's school athletic board is having an emergency meeting tomorrow about their mandate that high school girls report their period info to schools. (There's been a huge public outcry obvs) jessica.substack.com/p/abortion-eve…
Next, South Carolina lawmakers are pushing two abortion bans: One of those bills would take away doctors' licenses if they don't file the correct paperwork about abortions for rape victims and medical emergencies jessica.substack.com/p/abortion-eve…
The other would mandate that doctors tell rape victims that they're going to report their name, contact info, and allegation to the sheriff.
Which I'm sure has nothing to do with scaring women out of reporting.
I'm looking at a transcript of Biden's State of the Union: It has four sentences on abortion rights. Four.
By comparison, the speech has 19 sentences on 'junk fees'
This is it? Half of the country has been stripped of their right be seen as a full human being and we get four sentences?
This was Biden's opportunity to say something meaningful to the women of this country - a chance to announce some kind of real action outside of empty platitudes.
Unless there's going to be some massive change to the planned speech, he has failed.
And yes, Jordan Peterson's daughter went on Fox News to say that the reason less men are in the workforce is that women are taking hormonal birth control.
It is laughable, I know, but shit like this is gaining steam and it's *dangerous*
There is a conservative cultural campaign being waged against hormonal birth control - I am seeing it everywhere. It's easy to laugh at this stuff, but it won't be so funny soon
The most important court decision on abortion since Roe was overturned may come down this week - a ruling that could ban abortion medication in every single state.
And it doesn't seem like Democrats understand the stakes. At all.
A lawyer from @ReproRights says that in a recent briefing, congressional staff didn't understand how the case would threaten abortion in pro-choice states, and that she had to “repeatedly explain that the right to abortion was not a right to a specific method of abortion.”
This should scare you! A bad ruling would do away with the method that over half of Americans who end their pregnancies use. And it's been the only saving grace for women in anti-choice states.
A Tennessee law would send women to prison for 3 yrs if they file a ‘false’ rape report to get an abortion - and all it takes is one cop who thinks you’re lying
Lawmakers want voters to think this is a rape & incest exception - but it’s actually just a way to keep victims from coming forward, and punishing the ones that do
Who the fuck would risk three years *minimum* in a Tennessee prison on the hope that the cops and a DA believe you? These people are monsters
