A thread on "How to Interact with Persons with Disability"
If you come across a person with any disability, don’t treat her/him as a sick, or, sad person and refrain from projecting your emotions of pity and fear on the person with #disability. #PWDs
On this weekend, if you go to any restaurant, for thought experiment, just imagine how would you enter into the building with all those stairs if you happen to be on wheel chair? #PWDs
Just imagine how would you feel if you can’t see the man behind the counter because it is too high if you happen to be on a wheel chair . #PWDs
Never say to a #blind person ‘do you know who is this’? #PWDs
Do identify yourself when entering into a room, or, meeting a #blind person. #PWDs
Always speak directly to the blind person, not, through your companion. #PWDs
Give specific direction while helping a #blind person, not like chair is here, or, there, should be like the chair is one foot to your left etc. #PWDs
Don’t shout, or, speak loudly when interacting with a blind person, generally they have fine hearing. #PWDs
Never grab a blind person, always offer your elbow. #PWDs
Never ask personal questions about the disability condition unless there is comfort level for such conversation. #PWDs
Don’t offer advice for cure to a person with disability. #PWDs

A thread on #ElectoralReforms to enhance women participation & make next #GE more inclusive:
1. Around 12 million less women are registered as voters compared to men. #NADRA must be provided resources & directed to reach out to un-registered population/ women, to issue #NICs
within a year to enable them to vote.
2. Currently, it is #ECP discretion to declare poll in a constituency void, if less than 10% women voted. It is suggested that it must be made mandatory for #ECP, not discretionary, to declare poll void if less than 20% women voted, not just
3. #ECP must be mandated to take proactive measures to assess reasons of low turnout of women & other disadvantaged groups, facilitate their participation & take measures to remove any institutional or cultural barriers to free exercise
