Let me just post this again. Do you want to continue to have the best baseball in the country with students standing in line for their piece of real estate at the best venue in the country?
Join the Ernie LaBarge Bullpen Club today. Really, if you can't make it to the meetings, that's okay. It can be as little as $3 bucks a month. Swayze Crazies puts a huge part of its revenue right back into this club. Where does it matter, and how does that dollar get spent?
It ALL goes to the Baseball program. New lights, stadium upgrades (yes, seating), and player upgrades. Do you want to continue to have the best in college baseball? I promise you that the ELBC is the best way to support it. (I am not getting paid a dime for this announcement).
The number 5️⃣ will forever be ingrained in the history of Ole Miss Baseball, and it is all because of the program that HC Mike Bianco has built. Mike Bianco was a catcher for the Rebs' rival LSU Tigers from 1988-89. Why is that important? Well, he was brought up by another
legend in all of college baseball in HC Skip Bertman who built a shabby program at LSU to a World Series contender and National Championship team in his 5 CWS Championships and 7 SEC Championships. Bertman made an enormous influence on the young catcher Mike Bianco at LSU who
caught for MLB pitcher Ben McDonald after taking their team to the College World Series after only reaching a regional four times in their history. Bianco is from Wilmington, Delaware but graduated from Seminole HS, and he initially went to Indian River CC in Florida.
With 6️⃣ days to go until Ole Miss Baseball is back at Swayze, (bc I am getting all of our boys a day to themselves) we take a look at jersey number 6 worn by Reagan Burford. Reagan is a 6'0" 195 lb junior out of Germantown, Tennessee.
He is a juco transfer from Northwest Florida State (and influenced CWS MVP Dylan DeLucia to come to Ole Miss). Reagan is listed as an IF and has extensive work at 3B for the Rebs. Burford has a strong athletic frame with square shoulders to which he has added 15 lbs of lean
muscle over the last year in Oxford. Originally a Class of 2020 recruit by the Rebs, he transferred to Northwest Florida State in the spring semester of his freshman season for some quality playing time to get reps and fine tune his game.
With 7️⃣ days remaining until the Diamond Rebs' first pitch on Opening Day, we scout one of the brightest stars on the diamond in all of college baseball, Jacob Gonzalez. Gonzo wears the number 7 jersey, and he hails from Glendora, California where he went to Glendora High.
A 6'2" 200 lb junior, Gonzo has a long, athletic build for a SS. As a righty in the field, Gonzalez has soft hands, and he has a strong loose arm. Jacob combines these traits with his intelligent moves to make the most difficult fielding position on the diamond look simple.
From the left side of the plate, Gonzalez has a spread stance with a leg lift trigger. Jacob has a tendency to crowd the plate, but with his quick hands and long arms he is able to both get inside of the ball or reach outside and poke one to the opposite field.
