lol I legit thought this was gonna be a 'don't judge people for who they date'-type episode not a 'fuck that race fetishizing chud, the girls being judgmental at the start had a point' episode
too cowardly to go full black nationalist. writers are just gonna be in a confused 'oh of course that stuff is bad BUT...' pretend-nice-and-caring limbo forever
if it went all the way separatist it'd bother me less but this has the vibe of wanting to make kids always be afraid and distrusting and in an easy-to-control ideological limbo where what lizards on tv say matters more than personal human relationships

this vid sucks he used a walkthrough from the getgo since "reading the manual would be cheating anyway" (how, it doesn't even show you the whole world map) then complained about everything being too cryptic cuz it seemed like it from having it all spoonfed
if you get past the initial 'ahh i'll never be able do this' with dungeon crawlers they're not that hard. like people say king's field 2 (1 in the west) is really unapproachably hard and honestly zelda is harder
the combat in zelda is tougher than the "puzzles" which I wouldn't even really call puzzles (esp not in the rube goldberg machine, point & click adv way that aonuma zelda puzzles are) but they're good in a different way. like "the secret is at the tip of the nose" is a good bit

no matter how bad this gets I still don't believe it was meant to be bad because it still has higher production values than the last big scooby doo tv show legit aimed at kids. someone thought this was really funny and likable
it's not really about "woke vs anti woke" when everyone hates it & the creator has views that piss off both sides. the entertainment industry just has horrible taste & can't see why people would enjoy South Park but not this
Family Guy & Simpsons got progressively worse but ppl keep watching cuz at least the simplest, most basic core of their initial appeal is still there & it's comfy to have em around. Scooby meanwhile got better 2 decades in & Velma removes the core appeal + is legit the worst one

zelda did well in the west despite the bad cover art that tells you nothing about the game (even though they could've used the japanese one with the manual-like art) + commercials that are just "kids rapping really badly about zelda" or "guy in a dark room screaming enemy names" ImageImage
doubt it's "it looks too anime" cuz the manual art looks like anime frames anyway. NoA were probably just stupid
I remember dunkey saying "look they don't even use any art for these zelda games, you already know what this is" but that makes no sense for the VERY FIRST GAME

they probably thought these looked "classy" I dunno ImageImage

I loved donald duck comics as a kid cuz he was an angry miserable adult
wasn't really trying to be "witty and clever for adults" it was just earnest "man life sucks" comedic stories
john k criticizing bluth feels more valid but when modern animation people do the same it shows that even the softer creators in the past were alphas compared to them
