ryumako would be fine if it didn't become the safe pairing for fans who want to make moral drawings of an immoral show. that's why people jump through hoops to claim it's canon despite nakashima saying there is no canon romance and he left it up to fans "well the kiss drawing" yeah the point of the "Mako's vision" scenes is they're exaggerated and the actual "date" ended up being "3 girls shopping". yeah the show implies Mako is attracted to Ryuko but immediately after the "date" they showed Gamagoori waiting to ask Mako out.
