Indian Assoc of GastroEndosurgeons (IAGES) inviting Sadhguru as chief guest to its annual "scientific meeting.."
..felt like Fauci inviting Trump to American Infectious Diseases Society meeting to talk on hydroxychloroquine
The homework IAGES missed, on pseudoscience monger🧵
1/ Sadhguru defied the physiology of lactation when he magically flavored human breast milk.
2/ Sadhguru supports the wholesome stupidity that is Homeopathy and defies every logic based on his "water speeches."
3/ Do not believe me? Here is a "water speech" where he completely disrupts logic and sense by claiming transference of thoughts into physical and materialistic aspects using water as a medium.
4/ This one, time, he completely broke down the physiology of digestion by making a mockery out of the human digestive tract and genetics in a single bizarre paragraph.
5/ The time when he discovered a new sub-species among Homosapiens was truly pathbreaking.
6/ Sadhguru is a strong proponent of Siddha system of pseudoscientific & alternative medicine that, one time he ACTUALLY said that Govt & Medical community must allow responsible use of mercury to improve well-being.
Unfortunately, Mercury is a neuro-toxin.
7/ He once called "people with depression" - un-intelligent.
8/ Sadhguru destroyed Forensic Medicine & Toxicology with astronomical logic with his claim that energy during the lunar/solar eclipse converts food into poison in human bodies, giving assassins world over a golden-window period to make impossible to trace hit-jobs.
9/ When India features at 107/121 on Global Hunger Index with one of the worst rates of child malnutrition in the world, Sadhguru gave the country hope by trivializing depression to simply eating too much.
10/ Sadhguru's unsolicited advice was NEVER endorsed by Diabetes Clinical Societies the world over, even though it was bittersweet.
11/ Sadhguru has a real problem comprehending Astronomy and the science behind it. This one time, his random quote generator just went berserk.
12/ One time, Sadhguru saved soil to sell mud to the gullible who believed in him.
13/ Sadhguru's promotion of the pseudoscience Siddha has led to people actually getting poisoned with heavy metals and not finding solace in his words, but in medical science.
14/ This one time when Sadhguru's foundation served a useless, worthless multiherbal "immunity boosting" drink in villages to fight Covid-19, because majority of rural India is illiterate/uneducated & self proclaimed Godmen can easily leech on ignorance.
15/ If scientific societies are giving charlatans/pseudoscience mongers a seat to sit at table of logic/rationality, we are doomed as a scientific community
Find the strength in rejecting pseudoscience/irrationality every chance you get.

1/ This is a standard prescription for viral hepatitis in an admitted patient in India
Next time you see this, fight against it
This patient suffers from coronary artery disease & has stents placed for the same and has reactivation of hepatitis B infection.
Whats wrong here?🧵
2/ Inj. Augmentin is an antibiotic (a powerful one too). Antibiotics are used against bacteria.
Hepatitis B is a virus
It requires anti-viral
- here there is no antiviral prescribed
Injudicious antibiotic use leads to resistance which impacts us ALL, everywhere.
3/ Tab Pantocid is a proton pump inhibitor. It is a "gas medicine" used in patients with dyspepsia and peptic ulcer disease. This patient has dyspepsia, but the dose is too high - he requires only SOS (as need be dose)
1/38 "Next patient is a nun referred from DM Hospital"
My OPD staff tells me
"Severe hepatitis without a cause"
I sit up excited, also terrified
Excited, I get to serve people who bought me into this world Terrified, as they were competent to diagnose hepatitis, but couldn't.
2/38 Nuns at DM hospital ensured my mother was taken care of when she delivered me, many decades before.
They were pleasant, caring, comforting. DM hospital was well known for its services; it catered to a lot of patients, many very sick
A direct referral was always challenging.
3/38 I watch as two nuns enter my room and seating in front, they show me a liver test - the enzymes - AST & ALT were in 2000's with a hind of jaundice - the bilirubin was 3.2 mg/dl (clinical jaundice is when bilirubin is >3)
"I was a young nun, the time when you were born,"...
Our group's new paper, published in Hepatology Communications, official journal of the American Association of Study of Liver Diseases is now online!
It breaks a big myth!
Homeopathy is considered
"Gentle healing, side effect free & effective."
2/15 More than 100 studies later, scientific community has concluded that Homeopathy isnt effective for any disease condition known to humankind
Homeopathy is based on principles of "like cures like" & "more effectiveness in dilution" which are incompatible with logic & reason.
3/15 In fact, in scientifically progressive societies, Homeopathy is not more publicly funded and not a main professional course in colleges; it is reduced to "an artefact from the pre-scientific era."
Don't let anyone, including doctors, tell you otherwise.
Alcohol related cirrhosis
Abstaining from alcohol reverses even severe liver disease in patients with alcohol cirrhosis pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19344445/
As a med science communicator apart from being a clinical doc, these are common repetitive responses I receive daily from Ayurveda/Homeopathy supporters as THEIR argument against scientific med or my evidence-based tweets
Here are some
Will be ignoring these from now on..
2/...
I am worried my business will go down
I have lots of free time, no hospital work
I am paid to tweet against Ayush industry
I do not have an open mind
I am Hindu phobic
I never speak about Missionaries converting Hindu's
I never tweet on Holy Water cures...
3/...
I am a lap-dog of modern medicine Big Pharma
I am trying to defame and denigrate the past
I am not an Indian, more like a Pakistani - anti traditional and against Indic Culture
I am not an Ayurveda practitioner, so I should not comment on Ayurveda...
