on their third year, yachi brings candy to gift to all of her friends on valentine's day.
that day, hinata arrives slightly late to school and sees yachi give a heart-shaped lollipop to kageyama.
hell breaks loose when he sees him accept it.
something ugly happens inside of him, a sensation that's too close to the sickness he felt when he was an inexperienced boy facing the volleyball court for the first time.
only this is worse. way worse.
because this time he doesn't feel like he might shit himself, he feels as if his heart's being ripped apart and stomped on.
why did yachi give /kageyama/, of all people, a confession? wasn't she crushing on that girl with the pretty black hair?
hinata lets it get to him, even when he knows better than that. the entire day he's distracted, and for the first time ever he feels slightly doubtful on whether he should go to practice or not.
but only slightly, because the answer is always yes of it's volleyball, if it's...
kageyama nods his head to hinata as a greeting. like always.
hinata looks away to talk to tsukishima. like never before.
he just needs a distraction. anything to get himself more time before he sees kageyama and yachi all... all mushy or whatever.
"what are you doing," tsukishima says when hinata keeps going on and on about his morning, about how he had to take natsu to school.
"huh?"
"what. are you doing," tsukishima repeats. "why are you talking to me?"
hinata's about to air his problems but does a double take first.
"wha— hey, we talk!"
"yes. but you're usually arguing with the king by this time, not talking to me."
hinata looks at him with a frown.
"n-no i don't. shut up."
"so this is about the king, huh?"
man, screw tsukishima and his annoying smirk.
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"sure. well, let's play. better change fast."
/man/. screw tsukishima altogether.
hinata puts on his uniform and runs to the love of his life.
the volleyball court.
it seems fitting to be there in a day about love. for a moment there, he forgets all about yachi and stupid kageyama.
well, that is until...
"sho-kun, hi!" yachi greets him. "i wanted to give this to you before classes but i didn't see you."
hinata looks down and is greeted with...
a? heart-shaped? lollipop?
"um," he says as he grabs it. "wh-why?"
his friend smiles when she explains.
"ah, this year i wanted to do a nice gesture for my friends! i've been giving everyone their lollipops since the day started."
ah.
yes, this does make more sense.
"thank you..." is all he can say, and as he grabs the lollipop he laughs. he really is dumb sometimes, huh.
he hugs yachi tightly, relieved that it was nothing to be worried about, and is about to let go when he hears kageyama.
"no, i was gonna confess first!"
and. uh.
what?
"what?" yachi asks, breaking the hug.
"hitoka, why are you confessing to him? i thought you knew—"
and, honestly, hinata has to laugh. they must really be soulmates if they both thought the same stupid thing.
his laughter doesn't let kageyama finish.
"hey, stop laughing, i was gonna—"
this time, kageyama's interrupted by hinata's hand on the back of his neck and a peck that makes him blush.
"silly-yama," hinata murmurs with a smile. "how can you think that?"
there's silence in the gym.
"oh, my god" hinata hears from someone. probably tsukishima, who's holding his own yachi-lollipop with a smirk.
"finally," someone sounding too similar to nishinoya says.
"you..." kageyama babbles.
"talk after practice," hinata promises. "that if you beat me on warm-ups."
and even when you can't really /win/ at warm-ups, kageyama smiles.
"you're on."
|| omg valentine's day!!!! wishing everyone in love a very fuck u <3 (yes this includes kagehina)

PLEASE tell me if anyone's written smth like this but if not can we talk about angsty skts with vampire kiyoomi who bites vampire hunter atsumu and turns him and watches his descent into madness because as a hunter he hates he's become what he vowed to destroy????
can we PLEASE talk abt forced proximity because atsumu can't survive as a new vampire on his own because of his same monster hunter family????
CAN WE PLEASE talk about atsumu's resentment dissipating as he falls in love with kiyoomi but KIYOOMI'S guilt growing as he falls for atsumu???? CAN WE TALK ABOUT SLOW BURN
the sunset makes the sky look pink and orange, and kiyoomi wonders why he is only noticing now, right on the edge of the roof of his school’s building.
it’s weird, realizing how many things about life he’s ignored in favor of academic excellence. it doesn’t sit right with kiyoomi.
life hasn’t been great lately.
loneliness has been eating him alive, and something tells kiyoomi that waking up and wishing he was dead instead is not a good sign.
"fuck," kiyoomi sobs as he tends to atsumu's wounds. he can't lose his cool right now, not when he needs him.
"omi," atsumu whispers softly. "i'll be okay."
"i don't care, atsumu," kiyoomi replies, his eyes fixated on the red stain atsumu's blood has left on the clothes he's wearing. "you're— fuck, you're bleeding so much."
kiyoomi should apply pressure, do the proper bandaging, find medicine, get atsumu out of this place, maybe get a car— or call for backup? would that be appropriate? what if—
"omi," atsumu calls for him once more. "look at me."
atsumu decides to wear a patch with a different scent than his own just to see kiyoomi's reaction.
the alpha nearly goes insane with disgust because /that's not atsumu's scent/.
it's an instinctual matter— a primal thing, if you will. there's something inherently wrong with someone's natural scent being altered or changed altogether.
kiyoomi is really not fond of it.
he readjusts his facemask when atsumu enters the locker room.
"hi, omi!"
kiyoomi keeps quiet for a moment, incapable of moving. if he comes closer he'll smell more of it, if he moves far away atsumu might feel rejected.
