So I finished "Machete Season"

Figured since some of you won't take the time to read (but you should) I'll provide what I found to the most important takeaways — Image
• It was the fastest, most efficient genocide in history. If it had gone as long as the holocaust, it would have killed 12,000,000+ people.
• Most of the perpetrators were completely ordinary people. Farmers.
• The vast majority of the killing was done with machetes. Intimate.
• Most of the victims knew their killers personally, sharing communities with them for years, friends even.
• Compared to the differences between people groups in multiracial countries, there were very few differences between the Tutsi, the victims, & the Hutu, their killers.
• For the hesitant Hutus, many went along simply by threat of fine for not participating & ostracization.
• However, many willingly participated because killing meant you could loot/pillage. The bellies & coffers of the killers were full, at least by African standards.
• Most of the killers were professing, practicing Christians (majority Catholic) & maintained after the killings. They killed on Sundays.
• Killers when interviewed only would provide genuine accounts if the actions were referred to collectively, not individually
• There was a shared attitude among the killers that they could exercise the brutality they did because the whites evacuated, "turned a blind eye," as if they were arbiters of justice despite many just being religious missionaries/clergy
• Hutu women more or less endorsed the killings. Very little in terms of protest, even at the murder of women and children.
• Killers would often deflect, lie, or refuse to answer questions if the questions led toward individual responsibility in the killings...
...any cooperative answers were normally given because it implicated the group, not the individual.
• The killers avoided referring to their actions as a genocide.
• Anti-tutsi propaganda played a large part in preparing the Hutus for their eventual actions. Tutsis historically were the aristocratic class prior to 1961, whereas Hutus were serviles. This was dissolved completely outside of wealth for many years by the time of the killings.
• Tutsis were labeled "cockroaches" , parasitic, schemers, untrustworthy, & were painted as wanting to subjugate Hutus again. Propaganda played to past grievances.
• & finally, most of the killers expressed no regret/remorse for their actions. They were mainly sorry they didn't "finish the job" & now have to pay for what they've done. They participated because they thought it would be total & there would be no chance for retribution.
I hope you learned something important from this summary.

Since you asked, assuming I wouldn't have an answer:
Baleen whales, (The filter-feeding ones) have multiple unique biological qualities that are either irreducibly complex and/or have no way of mapping into the "evolutionary family tree" 🧵—
In order to filter feed, there are multiple biological mechanisms that need to exist in order for the whale to feed properly. Inability to do this means the whale would starve and die more or less immediately.
First, they have baleen plates, aka walebone, which are comb-like structures optimized for catching plankton and krill. Something interesting about this is that they are composed of keratin. How exactly do teeth, composed of dentin and coated in enamel, change their composition?

Said before & will say again Europe is in a much better situation demographically speaking. The main problem they will need to overcome is entrenched gentocracy and the strangling of young human capital through large welfare states & fiat currency.
America has two advantages (with a big FOR NOW...), if you are good at making money, you keep more of your wealth & can direct it into more meaningful channels. It also has the advantage of white Evangelicals being some of the most defiant groups to ever exist.
It cannot be overstated just how much work White American Evangelicals do holding back nearly all of American decay. They pushed back on the COVID superstate, they pushed back on abortion, & they will fight tooth & nail against anything that compromises their faith.

I am trying to minimize the attention given to this account but this constant "Why God mean & Jesus nice" is such an easily avoided take derived from lack of thought. You just had to not zone out while the Jesus storybook Bible was being read to them as a child : Image
For an incredibly simple summary, God lays out the consequences of sin, the old covenant, & the coming new covenant within the first chapters of Genesis. As you go through the old Testament, God reminds his people through the prophets of his promises.
The rule, which applies to everyone & is still in place today is the following: The wages of sin is death. This has not changed.

What has changed is the medium of salvation. To be spared your punishment, a sacrifice must be made, blood must be spilled to absolve sins.

Learn to be an active consumer — 🧵

Some media/activities can be done regardless of the amount of effort input. This is what I define as passive consumption.

The inverse is active consumption, the media/activity is dependent on the effort expended.
TV, Movies, Podcasts: This is all passive consumption. You press play once, and then it continues regardless of your effort or attention.

Books, articles, board games: This is active consumption. Nothing happens in these mediums if you are not devoting attention or effort.
When you are a passive consumer, your ability to extract value from mediums is very limited: You do not have the self discipline to maintain concentration for meaningful integration. You don't have too, it will happen regardless and you can still say you "did" it.

The evangelical establishment, for lack of a better term, has ceded all political action out of a desire to "preserve" the "authentic spirituality" of evangelicalism. They see the imposing of Christ's will on believers & unbelievers alike as "not how we are to be Christians." 🧵
But in ceding this, who shall rule instead? Satan & those who worship man & his depravity. Their collective unwillingness to shepherd the nation condemns our nation & children to the most sick, twisted visions of suffering that will be wrought by evil.
"But it will ultimately be good! Christianity thrives amidst persecution." Take that logic further, then we should make the world as awful as possible with public desecration of children because then people will turn to Christ. That twisted logic makes me sick.

A lot of you guys in this sphere are getting introduced to RFK Jr. for the first time. You're probably wondering why everyone's keyed up about it. Some quick questions answered and a summary of relevant achievements:🧵
"What's up with his voice?"
He has spasmodic dysphonia, a condition which causes the larynx muscles to spasm involuntarily. It's painless, but means clearly speaking requires more effort. He has had the condition since 2001.
"Why is he popular here?"
RFK Jr. is a big name in the holistic sphere, & there's lots of overlap with that sphere here, which is good. A summary of his work that grants him a lot of leeway in this sphere —
• He is a founding member of the Food Allergy Initiative, founded 1998
