I invite you to read and sit with these words from the Climate Justice Charter. The hours of thought, reflection, heart, soul, ancestors, future generations, kin, relations, sincerity and holding of so much grief and love went into every word here, filled w/grief, hope and care.

In the context of Vancouver, true swagger will be to recognize that people are rising to meet the challenge of climate change, instead of denying and delaying just climate action.

Real swaggers are not waggers to profits.

The coroners report on death from the last heatwave highlighted the very devastating impacts and outcomes for disabled, neurodiverse, queer, racialized peoples, especially Indigenous and Black communities, in marginalized neighbourhoods. This from of climate redlining must stop

Climate justice is essential for climate equity because climate injustices have created climate inequities.

That’s why this is the Climate JUSTICE Charter and not explicitly named Climate EQUITY Charter to recognize the inherent connection between both forces.

We also MUST move away from carcéral and punitive frameworks of justice because they are so easily abused.

It’s easy to kill but difficult to spare.

In Buddhism, a saying goes “Put down the killing knife and become Buddha.”

Climate Justice is relational, not retributional.

Climate justice is healing, not harming.
Climate justice is for all, not for some.
Climate justice is restoration, remediation, repair, renew, relate, return, resilience, relationships, reconnection, etc.
