I flied to Abu Dhabi π¦πͺ today to attend #NAVDEX2023 defence exhibition with @navalnewscom team. Stay tuned for exclusive content under this thread 𧡠π
Here I am! Last preparations for the exhibition are still ongoing. #NAVDEX2023#IDEX2023
.@aselsan's new frigate design with a reversed bow. It's a technological demonstration. The hull number, 2023, refers to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. #NAVDEX2023#IDEX2023
Here we go!
Nice and big pavillion of the Edge Group
Robotic demonstration of Ghost Robotics.
.@BaykarTech showcased AKINCI, the flying fish, with its wide weapons portfolio, including SOM anti-ship missile, Gokdogan and Bozdogan air-to-air missiles, and other indigenous smart munitions. πΉπ·π¦
Today, I enjoyed touring Pakistan's PNS Yarmook with the Pakistani brothers. Thanks for the warm welcome, I wish fair winds and following seas. π΅π°π€πΉπ·
Fire fighting demonstration including two men "flying" with jet suits and a surface drone spreading water. #NAVDEX2023
Conference by the Commander of CMF about the use unmanned system and AI technologies in maritime security operations. #NAVDEX2023
Uncrewed systems dominate #IDEX2023 and #NAVDEX2023, many companies showcased different type of drones for every domain. I covered the Chinese one, the A45, which provided a rare opportunity to learn about several Chinese systems.
A technology demonstration. Kronos submarine looks like BatMobile. Still, I am doubtful that it can dive, because the hatches don't look waterproof π But, it's compatible to the soul of Dubai&Abu Dhabi π€£
.@RAFAELdefense's C-GEM (Shipborne Off-Board Active Decoy)
China's CSSC showcased 2 variants of JARI USV, which are heavily armed (SAM, SSM, torpedo) and can deployed unmanned helicopter.
*deploy (auto correction suckz π)
UUVs (Strugeon) and USVs (two variants of JARI and Xuanlong) from Chinese CSSC's booth. The officials were not generous in revealing information. The UUVs are for general purpose (civilian and some military ops) and the USVs are heavily armed compared to their size.
I had a chance to experience the VR/AR powered ship simulator developed by Fincantieri.
The ship is Bergamini-class FREMM frigate, and the environment is La Spezia port.
This simulator is used by the Italian Navy and Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.
The first 3D-printed surface drone, the HYDRA USV, was manufactured in the companyβs large 3D printing facility, which is defined as the worldβs largest robotic additive manufacturing machinery.
1β£ As Putin announced last week, referendums on joining Russia will be held in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts from September 26 to 30.
2β£ The most important aspect of these regions is that they secure the eastern parts of Ukraine and the northern part of Crimea.
3β£ In geopolitical and geostrategic terms, after the annexation of these regions, Russia;
- will fully control the Sea of Azov.
- will be connected to the Crimean Peninsula through the east of Ukraine.
Many people liked and shared but I am sorry to say that this is a wrong analysis.
You cannot compare a "tracking" radar with a search radar. Even if the 3P41 (Top Dome) radar was dealing with drone threats, this is a tracking radar, you cannot detect an air threat with it. 1/8
Track radars are used to track air contacts that have already been detected by search radar. This means that the ship's search radar is always in "radiate" mode, scanning 360 degrees, and when the operator determines that a contact is a threat, + 2/8
+the contact information is relayed to the tracking radar, which illuminates it for surface-to-air missiles. So, the assumption that "Top Plate was monitoring the drone, so it didn't see the Neptune" is completely wrong.
Another issue is the coverage of the trackers. 3/8
Russia promulgated NOTAMs covering Ukraine's air zone. Ukraine closed 3 major airports and parked trucks on the runways in order to prevent Russian aircrafts' landings.
Some sources report that Russia has been condunting cyber and electronic attacks over Kyiv.
According to local reports, TB2 drones attacked Russian tanks.
Russia's massive airstrike was somewhat predictable given its air superiority and missile power. On land, however, it appears to be difficult to proceed without casualties.
