1-The recent conflict in the Red Sea served as a crucial test of the operational readiness of U.S. naval forces, particularly the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. During these engagements, a variety of naval vessels intercepted a significant number of ballistic missiles, kamikaze drones, and other threats. 2-Most of these were neutralized at a safe distance by advanced weapon systems, with only one missile being intercepted by the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) at approximately 2 kilometers.

In modern naval warfare, surface and air surveillance sensors are evolving rapidly, but the underwater domain remains a complex area where one can more easily hide.

🧵 1-Sonar, the primary sensor for underwater detection, is heavily affected by underwater environmental factors. In negative gradient water conditions, submarines enjoy a significant tactical advantage, as these conditions make them extremely difficult to detect. Image

Image

Today, the problems experienced by the Hellenic Navy's Meko 200HN class HS Hydra frigate during its Red Sea mission have become a trending topic on Twitter. I will address these based on my own experience. 🧵
ieidiseis.gr/ellada/251828/… 1-According to the reports, the commander of the Hydra was warned by the Larissa NATO Operations Center of an incoming ballistic missile, which then exploded 150 meters away. There is an irrationality here. Image

New thread 🧵

1- When promoting missiles on social media, there's often a lot of talk about "hitting critical areas of the ship thanks to this system," especially concerning the features of the guidance system. Image 2-However, it’s important to understand that you cannot hit the pre-aimed part of a maneuvering ship engaged in operations. This is true even for the most advanced missiles like the NSM or LRASM. Image

Russia has lost 2 ships (1 LST, 1 logistic tanker) in 2 days due to Ukraine's kamikaze attacks on USVs.

However, in recent months, the Russian MoD announced that Russian intelligence ships have repelled several kamikaze USV attacks.

Let's explore this subject. 🧵🧵🧵 1-Russian Black Sea Fleet suffered from the kamikaze USV attacks in this war. They lost several assets as a result of these assaults, and Ukraine's USV tactics started to change paradigms in the naval scene.

Putin's Dangerous Gamble with the Nuclear Threat

*** THREAD ***

1⃣ As Putin announced last week, referendums on joining Russia will be held in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts from September 26 to 30. 2⃣ The most important aspect of these regions is that they secure the eastern parts of Ukraine and the northern part of Crimea.

Many people liked and shared but I am sorry to say that this is a wrong analysis.

You cannot compare a "tracking" radar with a search radar. Even if the 3P41 (Top Dome) radar was dealing with drone threats, this is a tracking radar, you cannot detect an air threat with it. 1/8 Track radars are used to track air contacts that have already been detected by search radar. This means that the ship's search radar is always in "radiate" mode, scanning 360 degrees, and when the operator determines that a contact is a threat, + 2/8

Russian tanks in Donetsk... It's happening... Russia promulgated NOTAMs covering Ukraine's air zone. Ukraine closed 3 major airports and parked trucks on the runways in order to prevent Russian aircrafts' landings.

Some sources report that Russia has been condunting cyber and electronic attacks over Kyiv.
