To Counter Boko Haram Ideology, Zulum converts Arabic school to institute

@GovBorno, @ProfZulum, has announced the conversion of Mustapha Umar Elkanemi Arabic (Teachers) College in Maiduguri to a specialised institute for teaching of Arabic
and Islamic education that will aim to counter the ideology of Boko Haram.
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday while on inspection visit to the college, preparatory to the conversion.
The initiative is meant as a response to the threat posed by Boko Haram,
a militant group known for its violent campaign against education and its propagation of a radical and misguided interpretation of Islam.
When established, the new institute will be run in partnership with the Al-Azhar University in Cairo and it will be producing students who

In a bid to complement the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the economy and create more jobs,
a group of partners in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) space are set to execute various MSME-focused interventions, targeting 1.3 million beneficiaries across 17 States and FCT.
The MSME and Job Creation Unit of the Vice President’s Office which is coordinating
the interventions has disclosed that the interventions are geared towards ensuring the realisation of the Tinubu administration's commitment to job creation and economic diversification with the MSMEs playing critical roles.
About 23,000 households on Monday received food palliatives at distributions that were directly supervised by Borno State Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum in Baga town of Kukawa Local Government Area.
“Distribution of palliatives is one of the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He (Tinubu) has declared an emergency on food security, and in line with this objective, Borno State Government is distributing food items to communities. We have provided food
and non-food items to over 20,000 men and women (today)” Zulum said.
While working on permanent livelihoods through revival of commercial activities and farming, Governor Zulum frequently distributes food palliatives to beneficiaries who could not farm in substantial quantity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has hosted the @GovBorno, @ProfZulum in Geneva, Switzerland, for discussions over resettlement of internally displaced persons & their livelihoods
The meeting, held on Thursday, focused on “IDP solutions plans” with specifics on “Government leadership, community driven approach and voluntary return, relocation & integration.”
As part of the meeting, Secretary-General of the UN, expressed his desire for the UN to adopt Borno State's successful humanitarian model.

Deeply entrenched in our ethno-religious diversity as a nation is an unfortunate gullibility that makes a nuisance of our intelligence.
There is also a very worrying degree of religious extremism across the different religious groups of our society that polarises us at the slightest. Religion they say is the opium of the masses, and worryingly more so, in a frighteningly religious society like ours.
Modern day Nigerian politics has religion as the most potent factor or ready ingredient in cooking up a devout and cultist following. In the civil service, it is equally an index for the accelerated growth of civil servants and at times even a tool for immunity.
