1. Health Reform: MTIs
What has Imran Khan done for KP health? Despite lies & propaganda by blackmailers & many remaining challenges; KP health system is the most improved in Pakistan.
This is the 2000 bed MTI LRH; it alone treated 200+ patients after the police lines blast.
2. LRH is KP's oldest public sector hospital, built 1926. The story goes that the hospital was the idea Lady Reading, after she fell off a horse on a trip in Peshawar, replacing an Egerton hospital in the same place.
In 2013, facilities needed massive improvement (2nd picture).
3. LRH has largely transformed. The new 500 bed Allied & Surgical block is one of the best designed in the country; during COVID LRH took on almost 450 patients per day at peak, almost twice that of any other hospital in Pakistan.
4. During the recent visit of the PM & imported cabinet to visit blast victims, it is said that they kept on muttering that this is not how they were told KP's hospitals would be.
5. Almost every MTI has significantly improved its intervention capacity, and LRH is no exception.
6. ICU services at LRH were transformed, and a new state of the art ICU was added; as were vastly improved PAEDS facilities.
7. Recently, a set of some of the most advanced modular operation theatres anywhere in the country were made operational at LRH.
8. LRH 200 bed upgraded emergency block does wonders; thoughtfully designed; with great triage processes; excellent staff; it always delivers even after major emergencies; after the police lines blast, with 200 plus injured and bodies; all seen; and not a single complaint.
9. So why is LRH criticised? It was the face of MTI reform; The board did not bend rules for the privileged; some senior doctors who left did not like accountability...
But LRH delivered for the anonymous poor patient. @MYusufzai, a senior health journalist explains.
10. Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar was only the second public sector hospital in Pakistan to obtain ISO 9001-2015 certification.
1400+ beds but under significant strain, KTH has improved massively.
The new OPD block adds 100,000 sqft of space, inaugurated by PMIK.
11. KTH added the largest suite of modular operation theatres anywhere in the country, including at AKU Hospital Karachi, as part of its long term revamp plan.
12. Area after area of the 50 year old hospital are improving, including a new state of the art dialysis unit.
13. Back end services including security monitoring and a state of the art CCTV system for security...
14. Even facilities for employees, such as a cafeteria and a new day care centre for mothers have been added to KTH MTI.
15. KTH has added or improved services in at least 34 areas since enjoying autonomy under the MTI law.
16. Khyber Medical College, part of MTI KTH continues to be amongst the 3 finest medical colleges in the country, with continuous investment, producing the finest medical talent in the country.
17. Also affiliated with MTI KTH, the Khyber College of Dentistry has also been upgraded with a newly inaugurated college building, lecture theatres and facilities.
18. Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar's 3rd teaching hospital, has now also completed formalities for ISO certification, & is our most dynamic & innovative teaching hospital.
Another 1400 facility, it has been the face of successful reform, with an excellent board & leadership.
19. Part of MTI HMC is KP's premier burns and plastic surgery centre, inaugurated in early 2018.
20. Also part of MTI HMC, the Institute of Kidney Diseases has expanded in scope, and recently restarted kidney transplants.
21. At the HMC general hospital, the patient footfall have increased by 3x and procedures and admissions have increased by 2x. It is an incredibly well managed hospital with a 95% bed occupancy rate. Kudos to the board and management.
22. HMC has been constantly adding capacity.
Neonatal, medical and surgical ICUs have been added; CT scan and MRai services have been upgraded; the hospital has an excellent cardiology unit; and has also added services, such as cochlear implants.
23. New Emergency Blocks and Orthopedic and Spine Surgery blocks are almost completed and will significantly expand the hospital; with delays because of the imports ban by the PDM govt, and the usurpation of provincial funding by the PDM govt.
24. HMC recently initiated complex acute stroke curative services, a first in the province; saving patients from life long disabilities. Only the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology rivals its range of related services.
25. The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, fast-tracked and inaugurated in late 2020, now rivals any specialised cardiology institute in the country. It is also the hospital that earns the most money from the KP Sehat Card, public or private, and a source of pride for KP.
26. PIC was the first public sector hospital in Pakistan to get ISO9001-2015 certification, followed by HMC and KTH. All three in Peshawar.
The story of its expansion is worth reading.
27. In just 2 years since Dec 2020, astounding figures:
100000+ patients seen
25000 emergencies
2700 heart surgeries
Advanced cardiac procedures like TAVI, aortic root surgeries, ECMOs and angiographies without dies, FFR, IVUS & beating heart surgeries...
28. It's not just Peshawar.
Ayub Teaching Hospital, the 4th of KP's large general teaching hospitals, that caters all of the Hazara region and tibGB, has also significantly scaled up its services.
29. MTI Mardan, including the Mardan Medical Complex, newly inaugurated Mardan Medical college, has also added services through the past few years.
30. Mardan Medical Complex sees the 2nd highest number of Sehat Card patients in the province (last 6 months data); a real testament to the fact that patients trust services in what effectively used to be a very poorly functioning hospital pre-2013.
31. Improvements in MTI Nowshera further lessened load on Peshawar's major hospitals. Le all KP MTIs, it managed a COVID load of a 100+ patients/day at peak.
Named after JI leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed; note how PTI kept all political hospital names; never naming anything after IK.
32. Even in lesser developed areas like Bannu, the MTI framework has been instrumental in upgrading facilities, in particular under the latest board under the leadership of Saeedullah Shah Dawar, one of Pakistan's best cardiologists practicing at Shiffa.
Details in the slides.
33. MTI DI Khan used to struggle to be at par with others, given its location in the traditional underdeveloped southern region of the province.
On a recent visit, even the caretaker minister Haleem Kasuria was stunned by the improvement he saw.
34. Pictures of the revamped DHQ hospital, part of the DI Khan MTI.
Pictures from July 2022.
35. MTI DI Khan has added services including a Burn Unit, MRI & CT scans; expanded cardiology services; & added wards for ENT, eye, maxillofacial and plastic surgery and psychiatric services.
36. The board has also worked on approving Southern KP's first dental college within existing resources; and renovated large parts of the hospital.
Again, it is the leadership, efforts and integrity of the boards appointed on merit making this possible.
37. Our youngest MTI, MTI Swabi, with former medical corps officer Gen Salauddin heading the board, has shown extraordinary improvement since becoming an MTI.
Bed capacity has doubled within two years, and service capacity significantly expanded.
38. Patient numbers at MTI Swabi have doubled or more.
39. A 56 bed Accident and Emergency has been added: MTI Swabi.
40. And many services; dialysis; thalassemia; microbiology lab; paediatric intensive care added.
The hospital now takes its place amongst our top hospitals and continues to improve.
41. 10 MTIs; 10 improvement stories; a lot more to do but proud to help improve health for 40 mln KPites. Thanks to @PervezKhattakPK, @IMMahmoodKhan, @ShahramKTarakai & @hiktweets for their efforts in this journey.
Reform always face resistance, but results will always speak!

The story of PK102 - Bannu
#TheRiggingFiles
#Election2024
Here is yet another constituency in KP, where blatant rigging has been used to overturn a result against PTI's Malik Adnan Khan.
Adnan Khan beat former JUIF Chief Minister Akram Durrani by 37169 to 30361, a lead of almost 7000 votes. No mean feat in the politics of Bannu!
However, by tampering with the result of at least 23 polling stations, the result was overturned. However, again, a trail has been left that cannot be hidden.
Inshallah, Malik Adnan Khan will get justice from the tribunals, but what does this say about those who believe that to fudge election results is the way to make this country prosper?
And let no one claim that anywhere in KP were results fudged for PTI!
Details to follow...

#Election2024
On 7 polling stations, a tactic commonly used by ROs, was for the votes of one candidate to be written to another. Malik Adnan Khan's votes were reduced by 1434, by writing his vote tally to the similarly named Malik Ashraf Khan.
The boys behind the rigging also did this on almost every seat; having a similarly named candidate for every PTI candidate on the ballot. In many cases, the names were exactly the same.
3. The story of PK102 - Bannu
On 16 polling stations, forged Forms 45 were created and Akram Durrani's votes were increased. But this presents several problems...
1. The turnout on these stations increases to around or over 90%, where the average turnout for the constituency is only 42%.
2. The turnout doesn't match with the Form 46 vote count making this an open and shut case of forgery
3. The turnout doesn't match with the NA turnout on the same polling stations making this an open and shut case of forgery.
4. Several of the forged Forms 45 have visible over-writing
All of this adds a total of 8649 bogus votes to Akram Durrani.

🧵 A shocking decision sets aside democracy & the fed parliamentary structure of Pakistan. Staggered to see so many federal & provincial entities become party to delaying elections. Even the Constitution's Art. 218(3) & Election Act's Sections 8(c) & 58 have been misinterpreted.
2. Article 218(3) does not allow the ECP to delay elections. It makes it the duty of the ECP to organise and conduct free and fair elections. Surely, with this judgment, ECP has failed in discharging that duty?
3. Article 8(c) of the Elections Act, referred to in the judgment , gives the ECP the powers to issue orders to ensure it can discharge its duty. Through this judgment, ECP has done the opposite, hasn't it?
🧵. KP's new free atta distribution disaster on its first day in Peshawar. This is what happens when you do the right thing for the wrong reasons.
Can a caretaker govt approve a Rs 20 bln unbudgeted expense? What happens if a future assembly doesn't approve this expenditure?
2. Other than the fact the caretaker govt may be doing something blatantly illegal, it is important that the free atta reach the right hands and help the poor. Sadly, it does not seem the chances of that are high given the rumours of ministries being sold.
3. @FinanceKPGovt & CM Azam Khan should be asked whether any attempt was made to get the funding from the federal govt, given they owe arrears of over Rs 230 bln to KP & since this was done on the public directions of the PM who is witholding those funds.
