1/ I think Nathan Cofnas has made some valuable contributions, but I still think that he is substantially incorrect on his disagreement with three main points.

2/ Point 1. "Jews are highly ethnocentric" In his paper Cofnas focuses on the absolute rate of intermarriage marriage even though this would obviously have a different meaning for a group that makes of 2% of the population than a group that makes up 60% of the population.

3/ When it is pointed that Jews still marry each other much more frequently than randomness would predict Cofnas says that this could be explained for reasons other than ethnocentrism. But the opposite could be true as well. Jews that are ethnocentric end up marrying gentiles...

4/ because they are unable to find a Jewish partner. I think that best evidence of Jewish ethnocentrism are survey results indicating they are ethnocentric. ideasanddata.wordpress.com/2020/05/17/jew…

5/ Now we can debate whether these measures show that Jews are "highly" ethnocentric, but they seem to have a level of ethnocentrism that is closer to non-white groups than to english/germans. inductivist.blogspot.com/2009/12/more-o…

6/ Cofnas has said that this is because society encourages minority groups to take pride in their identity, but of course, Swedish and Polish are also minorities, and they are not particularly ethnocentric.

7/ Point 2 "liberal Jews hypocritically advocate different policies for Jews/Israel and gentiles/gentile countries" Now Cofnas is correct that we don't have polling on American Jews opinions on Israel's immigration and ethnic policies.

8/ But we do know that in 2019 95% of Jews have a favorable view of Israel while only 10% of Jews do of the Palestinian authority. Of course most Jews also support liberal racial policies in the US. news.gallup.com/opinion/pollin…

9/ If American Jews substantially disagreed with the nationalist nature of Israel 95% of them wouldn't approve of it. This might come down to a semantic debate about what hypocrisy means because Israel and the US are not exactly analogous, but I feel comfortable calling it that.

10/ And its also worth noting that Jews are not the only group to behave in this way:
-Turks vote for far left parties in Germany while supporting nationalist parties in Turkey
-Indian Americans overwhelmingly vote Dem while mostly approving of Modi and the BJP

11/ 3. "Jews are responsible for liberalism and mass immigration to the USA" Now I think that Cofnas does a good job showing that the history of 1965 immigration act is not what many on the alt-right claim, and certainly no one could completely blame Jews for liberalism...

12/ But one important piece of evidence supporting the idea that Jews were important in pushing America to the left is that in the 80s the elite being left leaning was solely a function of Jews. ideasanddata.wordpress.com/2020/05/17/jew…

13/ One could argue that Jews are simply "crowding out" gentile elites, or that the elite opinion didn't matter in shifting America to the left, but Cofnas doesn't argue these things, because he doesn't mention this study.

14/ Cofnas concludes that "Group conflicts are sometimes triggered by wrongdoing on one or both sides, and there is no reason to think that Jews are always in the right. In this respect Jews are no different from anyone else"

15/ Unless he provides examples of when he thinks Jews were the party in the wrong, I question how sincere this belief is.

16/ Now my personal opinion on Jews is that were pretty relevant for the changes that occurred in the 20th century, but their relevance is waning and this topic certainly seems to break many right-wingers brains.

17/ I just tweet about things I find interesting, but I think for anyone involved in politics or activism in any capacity I would go the Jared Taylor route and avoid talking about this issue.
