Afraid of #UPSCPrelims CSAT?

If yes, then do the following. I scored 131 last year with the same method without any extraordinary effort.

A thread 🧵 👇
1) Search for syllogism, number system, sequence & series, time & distance, percentage system tricks on Youtube.
2) Note down the tricks and then solve 5 to 10 question from each.
3) Do not miss calendar and clocks as these are low hanging fruits if practiced properly.
4) Then solve last 4 years PYQs.
5) For reading comprehension, no need of extra effort just read properly and use common sense.

I personally feel there is no need of wasting money on coaching mocks.

How to attempt #UPSCPrelims CSAT?

1) 1st half an hour solve RC
2) For next 1 hour solve maths and go through the whole paper to get the easy ones right
3) Ensure 40 questions are done in 1 and half hour
4) In next half and hour get another 8 to 10 questions as per convenience

Why should Bhojpuri and other regional languages be included in the 8th schedule?

It has been 21 years since the last 92nd constitutional amendment act in 2003.

A 🧵 on why constitution needs an amendmentSource: Wikipedia
What is the 8th schedule?

The 8th schedule of the Indian constitution deals with the official languages in India. As of today there are 22 official languages.

Article 344(1) and art 351 of the constitution gives constitutional provision to 8th schedule.

Art 344(1): Appointment of commission by president for the progressive use of Hindi.
Art 351: It shall be the duty of the Union to promote the spread of the Hindi language.

The 8th Schedule was intended to promote the progressive use of Hindi and for the enrichment and promotion of that language.
What are the benefits of a language being included in the 8th schedule?

If a language is included in the 8th schedule then,

-the language can be the medium of instruction in schools and colleges

-It can become the language of the legislature

-It will help in the preservation and promotion of the language so that it gets a greater identity

-In addition, candidates sitting for an examination conducted for public service are entitled to use any of these languages as a medium to answer the paper

Mawsynram and Cherrapunji are the wettest place on planet earth.

You know that, but do you know the reasons behind that?

A detailed explanation!🧵Image
But before knowing that you must know how the monsoon works in india.

Rain in India occurs via two types of monsoon.
a) Southwest monsoon
b) Northeast monsoon
80% of rain in India occurs during the southeast monsoon between June to September. Remaining rain occurs during the northeast monsoon between October to December and that too only on Tamil Nadu and Andhra coasts.Image

Ever wondered, why seas around the world are named like that?

Red Sea
Named after seasonal blooming of cyanobacteria called Trichodesmium erythraeum that turn water from blue to red near the sea shores.
Though the sea is named red but the colour is blue.
Black sea
As per Greek mythology, sea was harsh and difficult to navigate in ancient times and looked black during heavy storms.
Other theory is this sea has hydrogen sulfide below 200 mt surface that supports microbes that produce black sediments therefore Black sea. Image
Yellow Sea
The numerous rivers that flow into the sea, carrying sediment and nutrients, contribute to its yellowish shade. Image

Why is international date line zig-zag where as prime meridian is a straight line?

Do they hold any significance?

A 🧵thread
The Prime Meridian is a straight line running from the North Pole to the South Pole, and it serves as the reference point for measuring longitude on the Earth. It's a single fixed line at 0 degrees longitude. Image
Without prime meridian there would be

-No common reference point for time and location
-No standardized system for navigation
-No geographic coordinates
-No global communication and celestial navigation

Prime meridian serves as a reference for time zones.

Are Nobel prizes really given to the deserving? If no, then what are the problems with the Nobel prize?

A surprising and thought provoking thread 🧵 Image
Nobel prizes are given to people whose work has had the maximum impact on the maximum number of people. The award is typically given 10 to 15 years after the research has been done to understand the efficacy of the work but this has not always been followed.
Problem with the Nobel prize is that they lack transparency, lack diversity, at times trigger criticism & controversy, are sometimes wrongly given, maintain secrecy as details of the selection process are sealed from public view for 50 years and are more conservative in approach.

I cleared back to back UPSC prelims and here I am sharing how I did (On multiple requests)

It might be helpful to those who
-Are doing full time job
-Don't want to take coaching
-Unable to clear prelims in 2 or 3 attempts

A detailed 🧵on how to be atmanirbhar

For ancient and medieval, relied solely on my 17 pager note that I made out of Tamil Nadu class 11, 12 history textbook.

Was able to revise it before exam in 2 to 3 hours. Image
For art & culture, used Nitin singhania's hand written note and revised it multiple times.

Covered modern history completely from spectrum. Made no notes instead value addition was done in book itself. Image
