Yesterday three dead bodies were recovered from a well near Barkhan in Balochistan. The bodies were taken to hospital, where they were identified as Granaaz Marri and her two sons Mohammad Nawaz and Abdul Qadir.
Granaaz Marri and her children were detained in a private jail by Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran since 2019.
Khetran is a leader of BAP, a party formed and catapulted into government overnight under alleged patronage of Pakistani intelligence agencies.
Abdul Rehman Khetran is considered very close to Pakistani military leadership.
He and his sons are believed to head a death squad, armed groups allegedly formed/supported by military and intelligence agencies to counter Baloch “pro-independence” organisations.
One of Sardar Abdul Rehman’s sons, Lt. Colonel Tahir Shah Khetran is a senior Pakistani military officer.
While his other sons regularly hold pro Pakistani military and “Kashmir solidarity” rallies in Barkhan and adjoining areas.
Since last two years, a man Khan Mohammad Marri had been claiming that his wife and children were illegally detained, sexually abused and tortured by Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran and his men in Sardar’s private jail in Barkhan since 2019.
Few days ago a video appeared on social media in which Granaaz Marri, the wife of Khan Mohammad Marri, was pleading to be freed from Sardar Abdul Rehman’s detention.
It appears the video irked the mighty Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, leading to brutal murder of Granaaz and her two sons. Granaaz’s other children are still believed to be under Sardar Khetran’s detention.
Granaaz’s corpse was found in same clothes she wore in Sardar’s house.
This is not the first time Khetran has detained women in his jails.
In 2014, authorities recovered 7 detainees including 2 women from his jails. He was also jailed in 2006 for ordering forced marriages of two minor girls. But he always gets away due to his powerful connections.

“As a result of this stubbornness, all 214 hostages have been executed,”
Mr. Baloch said, adding that the group has “always acted in accordance with the principles of war and international law.” He criticized the Pakistani government for “preferring to use its personnel as fuel for war rather than saving their lives through negotiation.”
The BLA statement also paid tribute to 12 BLA fighters who died in the ongoing battle, including five suicide attackers—‘Fidayeen’—from the group’s Majeed Brigade. According to the BLA, these fighters inflicted a “devastating and unforgettable defeat” on the Pakistani military.

Thread: Earlier today BLA announced conclusion of its operation Dara-e-Bolan. Few key points from BLA’s unprecedented attack:
- It was the largest attack by an armed group in Balochistan’s history.
- It was first time in Balochistan’s history that an armed group took over control of a town, only 60km away from Balochistan’s capital. This is a town that has nearly a dozen military camps and installations and the high security Mach jail.
- It was first time in Balochistan’s history that an armed group carried out a conventional military style attack.
- Operation Dara-e-Bolan exhibited BLA’s very strong military capabilities. Many believe BLA is now led/trained by professionally trained/ex-military individuals.
