Deepak Chahar- the star bowler of Chennai Super Kings- made ₹14 crores WITHOUT even playing the IPL 🏏

How ⁉️

Thread🧵
Every year,

The BCCI- the body that governs the IPL- generously insures all their players’ contracts & even pays the premium.

This is to ensure that if a player is injured & unable to continue, they don’t walk away empty-handed👐
Last year,

They bought an insurance cover worth ₹5000 crores for IPL ‼️

That's the largest cover ever for an Indian sporting event.

This includes everything:

Revenue losses due to unforeseen events, weather issues, riots, and yes, loss of players due to injury or illness.
And our all-rounder Deepak Chahar was brought in by Chennai Super Kings for ₹14 crores during the IPL auction

💸PS it also happened to be the most expensive signing in CSK history.

But here’s what happened👉
Chahar was ruled out for the entire season due to a major back injury.

Lucky for him,

The BCCI had him covered!!

And he recovered most (if not all) of the Rs 14 crore from insurance.

5 Cognitive Biases Brands Use To Trick You 👀

🚨Only 2 seats left. Book now!

Ever seen this prompt?

This is the scarcity effect.

We tend to BELIEVE a product that’s low in supply or running out is invaluable💎. Image
📽️Movie theatres, ✈️travel booking and 🛍️shopping apps use this bias to create urgency and trick consumers into impulse buying.

Another bubble-bursting example?

India's largest insurance giant-
Born out of British racism ⁉️

Here's the full untold story👉
In 1818,

The British established their first insurance company on India’s soil.

🚨The catch?

They catered only to the British & denied insuring Indian lives. Image
When Babu Mutty Lall Seal–

The ‘Rothschild of Calcutta’– stepped in and strong-armed the foreign companies,

They started covering Indians too.

But, prejudice knew no bounds–

Indians had to pay 20% extra premiums ‼️ Image

Why are insurance stocks suddenly falling ⁉️

Here’s a simplified explanation👉

Thread 🧵
Several life insurance companies,

Including the likes of LIC, SBI, HDFC and Max Life,

Suffered a big blow after the 2023-24 Union Budget announced its new tax rules📉
🟡What the Budget says-

“It is proposed to provide that where the aggregate of premium for life insurance policies (other than ULIP) issued on or after 1st April 2023 is above Rs 5 lakh, income from only those policies with aggregate premium up to Rs 5 lakh shall be exempt.”

Most of our parents DON’T have health insurance!

And, if they do,

Their plan comes with a bare minimum coverage which just doesn’t cut it.

But, why?

But, it’s not too late yet!

Here’s why you should get a health plan for your parents right now‒

Ever wondered why fast food brands like McDonald’s KFC, Burger King and even Wendy’s all use red ⁉️

Or luxury brands such as Zara, Dior, Chanel are almost always black⬛?
Well, it can be explained through the concept of “Brand Colour Psychology".

It tells us how colours trigger strong associations and impact the way we perceive a brand.
You see,

Every colour a brand uses,

Be it logos, stores or packaging,

It is meant to trigger a specific response from us.

How did five stock brokers under a Banyan tree become the BOMBAY STOCK EXCHANGE ⁉️

[A thread 🧵]
The year was 1855.

A group of 5 brokers including Seth Premachand Roychand– a cotton trader– started trading stocks with each other under a Banyan tree.

Within 5 years, they became a group of 60❗
As the American Civil War broke out in the 1860s, Europe turned to Bombay for cotton.

A ‘Share Mania’ followed as cotton’s stock prices shot up.
