First thing to note: admittance to the City-County building often involves removing your belongings to be scanned, and walking through a medal detector. I was informed by an officer “no one is at post,” and this safety check was not conducted.

Mr. Jeff Johnson, a former Clay School attendee beginning in ‘92, spoke with me, saying the idea the site would become a parking lot was “unacceptable.” He said whatever happens the community needs support services incl. Health, Education, Financial Literacy, etc.

Rep Palmer spoke in opposition, fearing money would be spent but the project would stall. Rep Sklavounakis asked why the private company couldn’t absorb the cost. Rep Palmer asked to table discussion, but a motion to approve had already been put forward. Vote: 4-1, Palmer

Thank god I did a second listen through post edit because ITS NOT DONE halfway through the muffling didn’t work smh
So so sad the background noise cancelation I did and the audio compression just… stopped? No clue why
Anyways back to editing. New plan is if I can get this sorted in a timely manner to get the audio UP and worry about transcript later. Had just been typing it up when I noticed the jump. Screamed it was so loud lol
In high school I wrote arguing we should nuke florida. Got a handful of friends who fled the state for many reasons. WV is bad, but it’s not FL bad.
Only based Florida things are permanent growing season and it’s shaped like a peepee. That’s IT. I’ll visit again one day, gotta make it to Miami, but phew
The @CityofWheeling held its third #CityCouncil meeting today, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 5:30 PM. This thread details what I witnessed. I reported on the meeting as a citizen journalist, and I am using @BlackByGodWV@FolkReporters thread guide to compose this!

First, in my estimation there were roughly 30 people in attendance, including members of the public, city government officials, and media. Apart from myself there was no masking. There appeared to me no COVID-19 safety precautions in place, there was space for some distancing
2/
3rd Ward Rep. @RosemaryKetchum opened the meeting with a prayer, followed by a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. City Clerk Brenda Delbert called the roll. In attendance were @MayorWheeling, @ViceMayorWhg and 1st Ward Rep. Chad Thalman, 2nd Ward Rep. @benseidler,

“Body camera footage…confirm…EMS personnel told the plaintiffs that Cabell Co Sheriff’s Dept…would not come out because “they do not do mental hygiene orders on Sundays.” [they stated] that EMS and the Huntington Police could not do anything further because Darien was alert.”
I’m sorry if these edits are confusing, but I wanted to get as much of this quote in as possible. No mental hygiene checks on Sundays? We’re expected to plan our crises around the overpaid cops hours? FUCK
We are under attack from every angle. The pharmaceutical companies overprescribe us opioids, EMS refuse our calls for help, our landlords kick us out and raise prices, our legislature bans our friends’ and neighbors’ medical care, our companies pay us poverty wages.
