1/ Attn #CUSD! We have a LOT to unpack from last night’s board mtg.

I wanna get into something ASAP that I feel warrants immediate attn.

First I want to be very clear & public about how impressed I was w/Barb (acting as president) & @FrankNarducci’s handling of MANY instances…

2/… of inappropriate bullshit from Kurt + a speaker (Kurt’s friend) who came in to attack @Serrano4CUSD. Maybe Kurt was desperate for a distraction? To bring some heat down on someone else? Who knows.

Barb & Frank shut it all down. They 100% deserve to be recognized for that.

3/ The concern I feel warrants immediate attention is in regards to safety - an issue there really should be no disagreements over ever. Schools must keep students safe and as adults we must do everything we can to set up the conditions necessary for schools to be safe spaces.

4/ Included in the many disturbing things Kurt said in response to speakers was a shocking revelation about Tuesday. Kurt was cut off, as he should have been, but there was a certain sense of panic in the interruption of him continuing that raised my eyebrows.

I wasn’t alone…

5/ I was msg’d a response sent FROM the district communications department TO a parent who emailed the board questions about the event. (I don’t know why their questions were answered by communications ppl and not the board.)

‼️ It directly contradicts what Kurt revealed ‼️

6/ One of the questions the board was asked before the event was “what is CUSD doing to ensure the safety of everyone who attends?”

The communications dept replied after the event with this:

7/ This wouldn’t sit right with me either, with/without Kurt’s big reveal. It comes across as suggesting that safety was never an issue when safety should ALWAYS be THE MOST IMPORTANT issue. I get why they were peeved and especially because they’d just heard this disturbing info:

Captions are not available for the video yet. What Kurt said: “The only danger was the people that wanted to disrupt this meeting that never showed up. So we actually wasted 4 Gilbert PD, their time for 4 officers for something that never occurred. [Barb cuts him off]”

A dangerous disruption is EXACTLY the risk so many parents and students were worried about!

12/ Y’all I don’t how this was ever allowed to happen.

I do know that student clubs are required to have advisors.

In addition to needing to get the honest truth from the district about what was going on leading up to this event…

13/ …I think we need to seriously question whether the advisor(s) for this club should be allowed to continue in this role. Kids are kids, and they need grownup help to navigate situations like this.

Their advisor(s) clearly failed them, and put them in harms way…

14/ … along with every single Chandler student.

Setting aside completely what “Mαgα HuΙk” preaches, what reasonable adult thinks it’s OK to go on the internet and publicly invite THE INTERNET into a school?

Seriously. What reasonable adult would think this is ok???

15/ Those kids are not getting the supervision or the guidance they deserve, and that #CUSD recognizes as so important that it’s required. If the advisor(s) had any sense of responsibility at all TBH I feel they’d step down and apologize for all of this. It was all avoidable.

16/ Especially since we now know that the national org incentivizes these student groups to collect fellow student’s personal information/data. I know permission slips are required to join this group; are they required for non-members to hand over their personal info to members?

17/ We deserve to know more about this threat.

We deserve to know why questions about safety were handed over to “communications” who provided untrue answers.

Those kids deserve better adult supervision and guidance so they can have the safety and protection they deserve.
