Its shameful to see how campuses of AMU & Jamia Millia don’t even provide a space where issues concerning Muslims can be discussed & the communal role of the state can be brought to fore. My talk at Jamia Millia Islamia about the Delhi Pogrom 2020 was finally disrupted. A thread+
At 3:30 pm, I was visited at my office by a senior official of Delhi Police Special branch. He kept inquiring about the programme, the organiser & my talk. I told him very firmly that I will definitely talk about the communal role of Delhi police in handling the Pogrom+
At 5:15 , I reached the campus, only to find a heavy deployment of police outside gate-8. I managed to get in via another gate & finally reached the venue outside history lawn for the talk+ #DelhiPogrom
Soon, a group of Jamia security personnel reached there & disrupted the programme. They didn’t allow me to speak at the very soil that was formed only to provide a voice of dissent. It was shameful to see how campus spaces are shrinking every day. #DelhiPogrom

Large number of Muslim houses & establishments were looted, vandalised & burnt during the violence. What was more troubling was the demolition drive that was carried in a communally selective way+
@miles2smile_ Foundation was first among the responders for relief & rehabilitation works. In a span of less than 2 weeks we were able to identify critical households who were in dire need & assisted them with relief packages +
The cause of the riot was radicalisation of Hindus masses for Ram Janmabhumi movement by the VHP while the trigger point was a provocative procession that forcefully passed through Fatehpur village, a muslim majority locality+
Like any other anti Muslim riots that happened recently, the Bhagalpur pogrom had 3 similar distinct features. 1) False propaganda- one rumor stated that nearly 200 Hindu university students had been killed by the Muslims, while another rumor stated that 31 Hindu boys+
