The @BFLO_CC this week passed two resolutions that would stall implementation of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).

This is a crucial time to push back against the fossil fuel industry as it tries to control the climate narrative in #Buffalo.
The Buffalo Common Council is considering voting against New York's Climate Action Plan that was developed out of grassroots action to pass NY's Climate Law – the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).
The CC passed resolutions that would stall the implementation of the CLCPA.

Keep in mind, the Council adopted Resolution 17-392 in 2017 "Supporting the NYS Climate & Community Protection Act." You may be asking yourself:

So why is the Council going back on their word now?
Good question! We're confused, too. We know that the fossil fuel industry has powerful lobbyists that are spreading false information to maximize their profits. Their actions indicate that don't care for frontline communities.
Why is it critical that we pass legislation to fund the CLCPA?

We need to stop burning fossil fuels in order to keep our climate stable. In the building sector it's easiest and cheapest to stop using fossil fuels in new construction.
New York's Climate Action Council found that if we can't accomplish that simplest of goals there is no way we'll reduce enough greenhouse gases to keep the climate stable enough to support our lives.
CALL YOUR COUNCIL MEMBER and speak to the staffer who answers your call. (If you don’t live in the City, please call Council President Pridgen.)
Your message can be as simple as: “Please don’t be fooled by the fossil fuel interests and please don’t hurt my children’s future by voting for resolutions that oppose New York’s Climate Action Plan.”
You don't have to say anything more than the above message – or feel free to use your own language to make your point!

A call is better than an email, but if you can’t call, please send an email.
