Alec Murdaugh's testimony cracked this case for me. Here is my closing argument. I have tried to make it as concise as possible.
Ladies and Gentlemen, over the past 5 weeks, and after dozens of witnesses and thousands of exhibits, the truth has surfaced.

Let's begin with the weekend before the brutal murders. AM and his family went to Columbia for a ball game. AM testified that he was suffering withdrawals. He did not attend the game. He stayed in his hotel room sick, shaking, miserable, craving an opioid fix.

Remember that AM told you that those withdrawals would make you "do almost anything" to make them stop. Well, now we know that he did just that. As we go through the day of the murders, remember that AM testified he had a pocket full of pills when LE arrived at the murder scene.

He had scored his fix either the night before or the day of the murders. And he was feeling invincible. Keep in mind as well that M and P were at their wits end with his addiction. I call this Stressor No. 1. This brings us to the morning of the murders. AM gets to the office

The ever present boat case was looming, and AM was preparing a financial disclosure to produce to lawyers. I call this Stressor No. 2. At some point during the day of the murders, AM is confronted by the CFO of the Firm about a $792,000.00 settlement. He tries to minimize this in

your minds, but what does your common sense tell you. He had stolen millions in funds over the years and the wolves were at the door. I call this Stressor No. 3.
Let's move to the late afternoon/evening of June 7. Despite what AM would have you believe, M was not racing home.

She went to Charleston for a Dr. Appt. She spent over $1,000.00 at Gucci. She got a pedi. This is not a woman in distress. She had not lived with AM for months. I call this Stressor No. 4. Paul got to Moselle around 6:00 and drove the property with AM. And I will throw this in,

AM knows where those clothes are and could have produced them at any time. Moving on, we know that they gathered for dinner. This is where I believe the storm intensified. As I said, AM had scored his drugs and had a pocket full of sunshine and a big opioid fix in his body.

You can be sure that P and M knew he was high. And I believe that the evidence creates a very strong inference that there was a blowout. AM says Maggie and Paul left and he is sketchy on the details. I suggest to you that M and P left together, upset and likely disgusted with AM.

Now, remember AM says he didn't immediately go to the kennels. I suggest to you that after P and M left the house, together, in disgust, AM gathered 2 guns, got in the golf cart, and drove to the kennels. He was pissed off about being confronted with his addiction.

He had been confronted with his thievery from the firm that very day. Paul's boat case was threatning to ruin him. His addict mind was feeling the rush of his drugs, and he is thinking that if these 2 would just leave him the hell alone, and let him have his pocket full of drugs,

he would be fine. M and P were ruining everything. AM's narcissistic self was running this show. The final Stressor No. 5 is now in place. AM drives to the kennels and has a brief interaction with P, M, Bubba, and a chicken. By his own admission, he then walks to the golf cart.

And, this is where it happens. Leaning or crouching against that golf cart, AM takes the shotgun and kills Paul. The killer is not 5'2". The killer is a 6'3" AM sitting or crouching against that cart. Maggie hears the shots and instinctively runs toward AM. She grabs at the gun.

This is how Maggies DNA got onto the barrel end of that shotgun. This is also where Maggie's calf comes in contact with the tire of the cart. AM discards the shotgun and grabs the assault rifle. Maggie runs for her life...AM guns her down by shooting multiple times.

This ends my theory of how events unfolded on the day before and day of the murders. I have not addressed the cell phone data, etc. My goal was to understand the circumstances which created the perfect storm that would lead a man to murder his family.
