A mistake was committed Ethiopians were treated as a "savage". It hadn't yet been understood. They thought they had to deal with local backward savages but a dormant civilization awakened and reappeared before the world!
While the fascists were flattering themselves that they subdued the king and his people he was preparing his nation to prove the contrary.
The victory of the Ethiopians at ADWA is that of all Africa and this point of view gradually became patent.

In countries where News traverse deserts, as wings of the wind from one corner of Africa to the other, it is already known or will be so tomorrow that Africa has concurred Europe & throughout those dusky myriads there’ll be an awakening up to life & defense against colonialism.
This is why the ADWA victory is so solemn to rejoice, not only now but in the future as well. The victory is a victory of all Black nations and not only Ethiopia. The victory of ADWA, in direct contradiction to what the Berlin conference has decided in 1884.
Berlin conference said "Africa will be Colonized", Ethiopians said "Africa will not be colonized" and they succeeded.
